  2. My HS had a great auto shop. We worked on anything from lawnmowers to outboard engines (there were 2 test tanks, one rated to 200 HP), to car engines.

There were 5 or 6 engines on stands that we worked with. We did tune ups, compression tests, etc. I later wound up with a good running 332 Ford engine.

Since then, the shop was largely dismantled and the big thing is the annual robotics competition.

I like this vintage hand lapper. It precesses in a stutter step fashion as it rotates the valve.

Oh I like that! Since my Dad was a stay at home dad and my mother went out to work I've never understood or believed that "woman's work" BS. Anything involving strength can usually be worked round...

    To paraphrase Archimedes,
"Give her a lever long enough and a fulcrum on which to place it, and she shall move the world."

students measure and cut the 24” panel in half. Prep and spray a weld thru primer. Punch holes on one end for MIG. Resistance spot weld the rest
Then cut some of the resistance welds apart.

I have the same one. Turns both directions, but more in one direction than the other so it's not just reciprocating, but rotating at the same time. Cool design.

Really love what you're doing for these kids. We have some great HS programs where I live for kids who may not want to go to college, but get into a trade. We have good auto shop programs at our HS, and a great program at our Junior College.

to bad that 340 doesn't have the w2 heads, still a great engine. the old purple shaft made for a nice performing setup.

  23. The before pic of the actual cleaned hub cap.
50/50 mix of CLR and water. Soaked probably a couple days total
    IMG_4815.jpeg

even removed the majority of the remaining paint.
    The inside after 24 hours
    IMG_4741.jpeg
We first only poured the CLR on the inside and planned to blast the outside but after seeing how well in inside did, I bought more and submerged the cap in a plastic covered container.

Careful where you leave stuff soaking. Had a soup can half full of CLR and water like you made up. The vapors rusted anything metal near it.

If it’s a sealed cover know that it gasses out creating pressure. Is it enough to pop the top???

  28. I wouldn’t call it sealed completely
Just a cheap tote from the dollar store
