been removing as much yellow parts as I can.. it was a mono yellow painted every thing car, probley 80's built.. painted yellow mirrors, suspension, shocks, wheels. valve covers and such...looks better to me ,but it's my car.... so flame away...also, i have the full hood, wanna get miles on it before I put it back on.... SO IF YOU SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING... BUT BE NICE
AS FAR AS THE HOOD GOES... half hood or full... i kinda like the full look,,,, but I think the half is more hot rod... so undecided...
I'd lose the yellow plug wires and try and get a black distributor cap but other than that nothing really stands out as horribly out of place IMO.
Outside half of the rotors and front shocks could be repainted to mellow the yellow even further, but I agree, no sore thumbs visible. Drive it and enjoy it.
I like what you've done!! Big improvement. But just one little thing that bugs me. The grille appears to be angled forward at the top, and not sitting straight up? Thought it might be an illusion, but I see it in each picture. Or am I just seeing things?
I think what it is, phone cameras have fish eye.... thats why you see so many pics of 32 grile that appear to be leaning
Hello, The yellow is fine, but perhaps some fine blue pinstriping along the straight edges. The half hood looks good, better than a full one. Get the yellow off of the shocks and make your exhausts come out of the back, not the sides. As long as you are getting the yellow off of the shocks or new ones, paint the rear axle black. The yellow rear axle housing looks out of place. In looking at the side profile, those front wheels look awful. They are flat and stick out too much. Need a little deeper dish or lip. It does not have to be so matchy-matchy so smaller versions would be a better fit, but with a inset lip of sorts. Jnaki So, sorry for the list. The roadster is nice looking as a base build and now you can change things to make it better. Oh, and one last thing, I am sure the car insurance sales guys will like it if you do not put a real Moon Gas Tank in front. Gas explosions on collisions, great or small is usually the outcome. Or why would you put a fake one on anyway? YRMV
"A set of chrome reverse steelies with black wall bias plys would help greatly as well" I cannot emphasis enough how true this statement is....
Checkered flag fire wall, gauges on firewall. That's a big field of yellow without the hood. It's a great car any way you spin it. Glad you pulled the yellow wires.
to go bias tires i'd have to change rear ends and probably the front axel.... not all cars fit the pre war look if they weren't built that way to start.. every one seems to be hung up on the American graffiti yellow coupe.... not that nice of a car, and I would never build a copy of it...this car has more 60's look ... chrome 5 spokes work for me as I do my thing....like jake jacobs.... builds a traditional car.....then powers it with a modern merc boat motor.... only jake gets away with things like that... oh,,, and I now have a brand new set of big and little bias tires in my tire rack..
I kinda remember maybe 40 years ago... I think it was vintique that you could call and order steel wheels with what ever back space you wanted???
here's with the bias tires.... 7'' rim.... needed a 5 I guesss... the fronts are five... could of put 5's front and backkk... damn hind site..
