Wow, That is taking a barely enough there for a pattern and building your own body one section at a time.
I keep eyeballing a 40 Zephyr Contintal convert in a batch of baskets that is for sale a few hours from me thinking that it sure would look nifty as a Rik Hoving rendition I saw a while back. A bit too much work for me and needing an AMBR contender budget to have done the way I would want though.

  3. It is a shame that everything will eventually get lost in the paint process. I see lots of excellent work going on here.

Saw some of the cars on display at the AMBR show on the internet and there were a whole lot of Zephyrs there. I thought they were rare.

Yes i was there 21 different Zephyrs in one place very cool to see them all. In my opinion they are very rare it took a lot of effort to pull that many together in one place for the weekend. PXL_20240203_024928444.jpg

So i know its been a while since i posted anything. The car is coming along and lots of great progress is being made. Unfortunately, so much of the work i thought was done had to be removed and re made. We are on the right tack now and there is almost a full chassis under the car. I will try to post a few pictures a month and get everyone up to speed on where we currently are. This picture below i what the vehicle looked like when it arrive in Alabama at the new shop.

Everyone needs to go back to page one and look at what this project looked like on day one. Thanks for the update.

Included in an insurance estimate really means we are not paying for this operation. Which equates to STOLEN LABOR. You are only paid for putting on the part which is already unwrapped and the car is already in your stall thats it. You are not paid for finding the car or going to the parts department to get the part and unbox it and take it to the paint shop for cut in and going back to get it to install it, and going to find the estimator to get a supplements this is all stolen labor. They really need to pay the body man 50% . Every time the door goes up the labor hours allowed for a job goes down. Sorry for the Rant but I’ve been in this business for close to 70 years and the numbers don’t lie.

  21. That’s a big improvement! Doesn’t speak well for the previous shop.
Sounded like things were going well from previous posts.
Sorry that you had to start over after so much time and money. Bummer!
    Keep the updates coming!

Nice "restoration" repair, so much for that line I could never stand hearing, "...... nobody is ever going to see it" thank you for the updates, fine looking project.

20160924_072914.jpeg Damn it, I gave away a '37 V12 and 3 speed. It used to be a mule (generator) for a silver mine out west. Wish I still had it to add to this build.

  24. Unfortunately, most of the time these kind of cover ups are structural.
