That is the most beautiful truck on the face of the earth.

  3. So you get the urge to do something along those lines? Lol

  6. So regardless of whether it stays a mild custom order becomes a radical custom when it reaches the point of having fenders im thinking frenching 59 caddy tail lights into the fenders

Oh, and you were doing so good until you said that. I would do 50 Pontiac or packard tail lights instead.

  8. Eh Packard tail lights are something I'm not exactly fond of. Probably because of all the people that put Packard tails in 56 Chevy's. 56 Chevy's are my absolute favorite car and the idea of people trying to make one not look like a 56 rubs me wrong lol

  10. This is along the lines of what I was thinking. Only without any of the "collar" visible from the side f7b967f672d1acdeafb1ae77210cb124.jpg

  11. One thing I like about the idea is if I paint the inside of the tunnels white or silver with the surface area of the lense it'll result in a very visible light. There's another tail light i was thinking of but hasn't clicked what it's from lol

The caddy lights are just too over done.

  13. In any event we gotta get the middle and front of the truck before we worry about the rear. One thing I'm planning on doing when it stops being so friggin cold is dig out my stash of 53-64 hrm. Have a fairly complete set minus a month some years and like four missing from 53. Well go through them for a double whammy. Ideas for the build and education for her. I have 10-15 vintage hrms loose in my room but they're just oddball doubles I found at flea markets lol. I am liking the idea of quad headlights with either C1 or say 58 Pontiac bezels. I may even know where some 58 Pontiac headlight assemblies are if I can think of who has them lol

IMG_0978.jpeg IMG_0977.jpeg Go to a local semi truck chrome shop and look at all the lights there on display.
Maybe graft 58-59 Chevy pickup fenders onto the 49-54 ?

    Rear fender front’55-60’s sometime
    I think are the same.
If you can figure out a relay. I’ve a set that would be good to cut the top portion off. Dented from loading/unloading the bed.
The rest is is straight and no rust

You know we’re a bunch of morons. Here it is, it will be this poor girl’s truck and we’re designing it and building it without her input. Her first foray into the hot rod world and a bunch of old guys are designing a truck for a young girl. We’re so wrong guys! Creature, I’m so sorry. I will keep my big mouth shut and wait for your ideas and suggestions. Once again, I’m sorry.

@SS327 Agreed. I've edited/deleted my comments. It was opinion and hoping to avoid bad choices, but that's how we learn.

  19. No worries. One thing I'm working on teaching her is how to handle trash talk lol. So no need to feel as if stepping over bounds

She may have her own very different ideas on what she wants. She may want it powered by a 3 cylinder geo metro engine and a 10 speed transmission painted Candy Fuscia. With pink and purple seats and unicorns painted all over the tail gate. The point is we will never know until she tells us. And that is cool!

  21. She's so much like her mama that she doesn't actually know what she wants. Just like her momma I'll show her ideas and judge her reaction lol. Basically she trusts my automotive artistic eye but this way she's actually making the decisions even if I come up with the ideas.

If she's allowed internet access, this site alone is a goldmine of ideas. Not only colors and mods, wheel and tire combos and stance, but lots of tech on how to get it done.
I'd suggest starting a folder on the box with pictures of every similar truck, good and bad. It can be a reference for refining her plan. I've got thousands of A100 pictures from when I was working on that.

  24. That'll be something we do after we dig out my old hrm when it warms up a bit. Honestly well save pic of other trucks too if they have a modification we like.

  25. The other thing I plan to do is buy a few amt 1/25 scale 50 Chevy truck model kits and build with different iterations and ideas we have. I can visualize perfectly in my mind but not always describe it so someone else gets a clear picture. Plus the models sitting around will help keep her interest up

Ok boss, if you’re good with it. Now about that candy Fuscia paint?

  29. Naw she actually wants emerald green. If you notice early in this thread I was saying blue before suddenly saying emerald green without explanation lol. It's because I talked to her and she specifically asked for that color lol

  30. Specifically this green. Though like I said for at least a few months it'll be flat black with scallops this color till she establishes driving ability lol IMG_20250124_160220_HDR (1).jpg
