Just made a deal for a vehicle and got this enclosed ramp truck as part of the deal. It is going to be perfect for my Dragmaster Dart project. I know it was bought out of the Los Angeles area around 25 (maybe more) years ago. There are stickers from US Nats, Gator nats, Winston finals and a few more throughout the 90's. I would love to know its history and what it used to haul. I will try to get better pictures this weekend.
I know nothing, but you got it just in time before the earth reclaimed that one! Looks like lots of lichen, moss, and other growth to knock off. Hopefully the old square body isn't too rotten.
It's what is in the back of the truck that is what I was after. I can't spill the beans just yet but it is a local (Washington stste) custom that has been "missing for the last 15-20 years. As my wife said "finding a lost custom in the back of an old ramp truck is every car guys wet dream."
The truck itself is surprisingly rust free for sitting in the same spot for the last 15-20 years. Im going back upto it Sunday.
I couldn't make out the date on the participation stickers but I think the box was on a different truck before the current unit. I have never seen either before.
I will have clear pictures this Sunday. It may have been. I didn't really get too much of a chance to inspect it the last time I was there. I looked at all the usual squarebody rust spots and they were solid with no bubbles. Interior didn't stink and the T handle was missing on the hood release. Im headed up Sunday with vise grips. First thing is to make sure the 454 isn't locked up then bypass the stock fuel tanks that I am guessing are full of rust. Once I get her running I will buy some new tires. Probably won't drive it out of there until spring as I need to sell off a few cars to make room for it.
It sounds like the 'load' is of greater interest and focus than the truck, but if you have a few more minutes, it isn't hard to pop the plugs and fill up the cylinders with ATF or something. Future you will be glad you did. Oh, and put the plugs back in!

Well, it's official, I now own the Coca-cola Cowboy and a bitchin ramp truck for my Dragmaster project!
Went and sniffed around it some more today. 454, gearvendors overdrive, onan generator, rust free body, box is by Brown. Box is 22' long 8' wide and 8' tall. Bumper to bumper is 31½'
That's some serious miles, I'd check the schedule and see how many they covered. You might get lucky and spot it here. Gainesville to Pomona to Brainerd and everywhere in between. A ton of miles for sure, and likely in a truck where you wouldn't have to worry about taking your socks off to calculate the mileage. I wonder when the Gear Vendors got installed? Have fun with it.
Wow! Hey @123 I just now stumbled onto this thread. That is indeed a very cool find. I can assure you that if @Hitchhiker or @ClarkH or myself had known about this particular rig, and especially about the cool "Kustom" truck inside of it, one of us would have been owning it by now. @ClarkH maybe not so much, because he doesn't have the room or space for such a rig, but he may have some information on it. Mike Soldano may know something about that truck as well. I am really surprised that Matt (hitchhiker) hasn't chimed in on this thread, I bet he will now, and boy is he gonna be pissed that he missed out on finding this great score! I assume that where the truck is right now is north of Seattle? I have been living here in Seattle since 1979, and I have never seen that truck at any of the events here or in Oregon.
