Thinking about changing my wheels/tires on my 32 Fordor Highboy. Want to go from the Red wheel 15 front with 15 in wide tire look to the Black 15 wheel /tire and 15/16 inch narrow rear tire look. Seems like all of Coker stuff is price prohibitive for a retired old guys. I'm just having trouble getting narrow rears that aren't $ 300. + per tire .
D rated so the ride may be a little stiff. But only $120. Do a search for what size you decide on. It won't be a stylish Firestone or Goodyear repop but it will be round, black and cheaper. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Power-King-Super-Highway-II-7-00-15-105-101L-D-Commercial-Tire/5126820008?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=12601&sourceid=dsn_ad_82a1172e-9aef-4deb-a6c1-b1278a1d5253&veh=dsn&wmlspartner=dsn_ad_82a1172e-9aef-4deb-a6c1-b1278a1d5253&cn=FY25-MP- Cheap Coker for the front https://cokertire.com/tires/excelsior-400-425-15.html
Someone posted this and I found it helpful, since most tire sites have you pick sizes using width, then ratio, then wheel diameter. Just click on 15" https://tiresize.com/comparison/ BTW, nice T!
I'm having the opposite problem... got 4 tires from coker... bfg silvertown black wall bias.. 15'' 8.20's (29 1/2 tall) and 5.90's... put them on the car.... didn't like the look with 7'' wide rear rims, so got some more tires... and can't find rims.....unless I change the rearend....so 1200 bucks worth of rubber setting in the garage.. gonna call wheel smith to see what they can do
diamondback radial makes a nice looking (bias look radial) rear thats size 820 R15. Its good for I think a 5-7" wheel.
@G_Don this one? https://www.summitracing.com/parts/dbt-820r15adbw That's awful close to his self proclaimed pain point of 300 each.
I tend to go over board when building my cars. The latest 32 roadster I'm doing has 2 inch widened 32 wires on the back and stock 35 wires on the front. I struggled trying to fine the right tires and finally ended up biting the bullet and getting 700/18 Excelsior's for the rear and 500/16 Excelsior's for the front. Same size I have on my black Henry highboy. For me over the past 50 years it's about the right look. Never been much on compromise. I understand being on a tight budget but if it doesn't look right it usually isn't.
Just remembered I did a couple deuce roadsters in the early 2000's and used 235/85/R16 Michelin's on the rear and 145R15 Michelin XZX tires on the front. I remember I only ran about 20 lbs in the rears because they were 10 ply but they had a good looking tread. I think I got them at Sam's
@anthony myrick Good catch there. I checked, but didn't see a recommended rim size. They are speed rated for 75MPH, if that's important to potential buyers. Another member suggested these Firestone Destination LE3 Highway All-Season Tire Size: 265/75R15 about a month back. They have already gone up 30 bucks each in that time! I understand this is about Bias ply, not radials, but thought I'd post these too.
Yep thats the one. I have the 1000R15 on my car and love em, they look great but guess theyre out of the OP budget. The ones Anthony Myrick Posted look great. Gordy
These are actually trailer tires in the rear. Ran them all year no issues. 7.50-16@92$ each. Fronts are just some generic 6.00-16 bias
^^^^How about more info on these rear tires…a closeup pic of the sidewall would be great! I’m guessing load range E…seeing as they are 7.50’s.
Thanks…31” tall is great. Some of the lettering is saying don’t use on a high HP car and especially don’t use it on a real sticky drag strip. . They look great on your cool roadster!
tires and stance make or break the car...on my 32, I finally bit the bullet yesterday and got a comet rear..56in wide to replace the 60'' wide I have now... I just couldn't get there with the wide track rear end... kept say'n... it's good enough... but it wasn't and it's what you see the most, sure you have to think of cost...but at the end of the day it's probley the cheepest thing on the car...
