I’ve gone through some of the threads of the AMBR pics and they were great. However, is there one thread showcasing the 75 previous winners exclusively?
do a search here for thread "75th Anniversary GNRS 2025" - page 4 / starting at shared post #93 by oliver westlund shows many. also, on You Tube one video is titled " Some of America's Most Beautiful Roadsters at The 2025 Grand National Roadster Show" shows many. likely others out there
Try here, https://public.fotki.com/LOUD-PEDAL/ambr-winners/ https://hotrodshows.com/grand-national/gnrs-past-winners/ https://www.google.com/search?q=202...g4MTkxajFqNKgCALACAA&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8 https://www.google.com/search?q=202...MAiAYBkAYIkgcDMS4yoAfVBg&sclient=gws-wiz-serp
Well I did the search and found Weslund’s pics. I was under the illusion that all 75 previous winners would be there. What I did notice that the previous winners there were model As and Ts...
Saw the images here and it looks like all the previous winners weren't there. Don't see the Frank Rose car or the Eddie Bosio car which was later restored to the previous Edelbrock configuration.
I can't imagine that all 75 original (or recreations) even still exist! As mentioned, many don't fit the criteria of HAMB, and while there has been an allowance made for covering the current show, having a thread about every past winner would cause such a poop storm I'd imagine it would get shut down fast and hard. I haven't looked but I don't know of a single source for every single winner in one place. You need to remember many were controversial in their own time, pictures weren't as common and they have copyrights. EDIT: Even the fotki site stops at 2016.
You would have to hunt down magazine coverage year to year to get all 75 of them and then it might be a challenge. A few of the earlier show rods that got the award may have been redone a few years after they won. Some of those are ones that we might prefer to forget anyhow. I was amazed that as many still in their as shown when they won appearance still exist and were in on display with other former winners.
I thought so too, but @Fat ASS Whitewalls actually did the work! His links cover the whole history. BRAVO! I clicked on the first, but didn't check the rest. None seem to have all in one place, and none have current owner/location for obvious reasons.
All cars exist, a couple not entirely like they won AMBR '54, winner Frank Rose T is somewhat missing, sold at the Harrah auction in the 80s ended up somewhere in Arizona or NM '55, Ray Anderagg roadster exists and was rebuilt in early 90s by Ray. It is painted red and much like the Gold 1959 SBC version, lives on East Coast. '56, Ed Bosio '32 has been restored back to how Vic Edelbrock raced it in 40s, so roadster exists but not how it looked when it won AMBR. There is a clone of Bosio '32 '57, Jerry Woodward's A roadster was displayed at the 90 years of Model A but is rarely seen The rest are accounted for, some owners chose not to attend the 75th gathering
EDIT: Thanks, @Jimmy B I knew there were historians here!Even though historic, it's amazing it's 100% survival, even if altered. You replied while I was doing this post. I decided to grab all the basic info and combine it all. Some include the car name, the later ones didn't supply this consistantly. I will try to come back and fill this in if needed. You can follow the links @Fat ASS Whitewalls provided to see pictures. I felt just a list is more than many can handle and what I could do in a single post. There is some editing for clarity, so I hope it's all correct. I added "19" to each year for easier reading and searches, also the early cars kept switching between FORD and ROADSTER. I tried not to add any I was not positive on until further review. 1950 AMBR BILL NIEKAMP'S 1929 FORD 1951 AMBR WINNER RICO SQUAGLIA'S 1923 FORD 1952 AMBR WINNER BUD CRACKBON 1925 FORD 1953 AMBR DICK WILLIAMS 1927 FORD 1954 AMBR WINNER FRANK ROSE'S 1927 FORD. 1955 AMBR WINNER BLACKIE GEJEIAN'S 1926 FORD 1955 AMBR WINNER'S RAY ANDEREGG'S 1927 FORD & BLACKIE GEJEIAN'S 1927 FORD FIRST TIE 1956 AMBR WINNER EDDIE BOSIO'S 1932 FORD X Vic Edelbrock Sr.Roadster 1957 AMBR WINNER JERRY WOODWARD'S 1929 FORD 1958 & 59 AMBR WINNER RICHARD PETERS ALA KART "QUEEN OF THE BALL" 1960 AMBR WINNER CHUCK KRIKORIAN'S "THE EMPEROR" 1961 AMBR WINNER RICH GASCO'S 1929 FORD 1962 AMBR WINNER GEORGE BARRIS 1927 FORD 1963 AMBR WINNER LeROI TEX SMITH XR 6 1927 ROADSTER 1964 AMBR WINNER DON TOGNOTTI''S KING T 1965 AMBR WINNER CARL CASPER "CASPER'S GHOST" 1966 AMBR WINNER DON LOKEY'S "T PLUS 2" 1967-68 AMBR WINNER BOB REISNER'S "INVADER" 1968 AMBR WNNER JOE WILHELM'S "WILD DREAM" 1969 AMBR WINNER ART & MICKEY HIMSL'S 'ALIEN' 1970 AMBR WINNER ANDY & SUE BRIZIO'S 1923 INSTANT T 1971 AMBR WINNER LONNIE GILBERTSON'S 'T' 1972 AMBR WINNER JOHN CORNO'S "BUILT 2 TILT" 1973 AMBR WINNER CHUCK CORSELLO'S 1923 T 1974 AMBR WINNER JIM VASSER'S TOURING 1975 AMBR WINNER LONNIE GILBERTSON'S 'T' 1976 AMBR WINNER BOB SBARBARO'S T TOURING 1977 AMBR WINNER JIM MOLINO'S "CANDY MAN" 1978 AMBR WINNER PHIL COOL'S 1932 ROADSTER 1979 AMBR WINNER BRIAN BURNETT'S "DEUCARI" 1932 FORD 1980 AMBR WINNER JOHN CORNO'S ROADSTER 1981 AMBR WINNER JOHN SIROONIAN ROADSTER 1982 AMBR WINNER JAMIE MUSSELMAN 1983 AMBR WINNER CHUCK LOMBARDO'S 1932 ROADSTER 1984 AMBR WINNER DON VARNER'S "CALIFORNIA STAR" 1985 AMBR WINNER LARRY & JUDI MURRAY'S 1933 FORD 1986 AMBR WINNER JIM & FLORINE McNAMARA'S "MERE-IMAGE" 1987 AMBR WINNER JAMES ELLS "FERRARI DEUCE" 1988 AMBR WINNER ERNIE IMMERSO'S "ORANGE TWIST" 1989 AMBR WINNER ERNIE IMMERSO "GOLDEN STAR" 1990 AMBR WINNER BUTCH MARTINO'S "PASSION" 1991 AMBR WINNER ERNIE IMMERSO "GOLDEN STAR" 1992 AMBR WINNER DENNIS VARNI'S 1929 FORD 1993 AMBR WINNER DON RAIBLE'S "BLU STEEL" 1994 AMBR WINNER JOE McPHERSON'S "INFINITY FLYER" 1995 AMBR WINNER FRED WARREN'S 1937 FORD "SMOOTHSTER" 1996 AMBR WINNER BOYD'S "BOYDSTER" 1997 AMBR WINNER BOB YOUNG'S 1937 FORD 1998 AMBR WINNER DAVE EMERY'S 1932 ROADSTER 1999 AMBR WINNER FRED WARREN'S "SHOCKWAVE" 2000 AMBR WINNER CHUCK SVATOS 1932 ROADSTER 2001 AMBR WINNER RICHARD BERG'S 'INPACT' 2002 AMBR WINNER PAUL TRUSSELS 1932 FORD 'REALSTER' 2003 AMBR WINNER GEORGE LANGE BOYDSTER II 2004 AMBR WINNER CHARLIE LAMBETECCHIO'S 1936 ROADSTER 2005 AMBR WINNER PAUL & ERICK HANSEN'S "SEDUCED" 1932 FORD ROADSTER 2006 AMBR WINNER KEN REISTER'S "IMPRESSION" 2007 AMBR WINNER KEVIN & KAREN ALSTOTT'S 2008 AMBR WINNER RUDY NECOECHEA'S "UNDISPUTED" 2009 AMBR WINNER HARRY WILLETT'S "WILLETT SPECIAL" 2010 AMBR WINNER MIKE & DIANNA DINGMAN'S "POSSESSED" 1933 ROADSTER 2011 AMBR WINNER DARYL WOLFWINKEL'S 1934 FORD ROADSTER 2012 AMBR WINNER BILL LINDIG'S INDY SPEEDSTER 2013 AMBR WINNER JOHN MUMFORD'S 1927 T 2014 AMBR WINNER WES RYDELL'S "THE BLACK BOWTIE" 1935 CHEVY 2015 AMBR WINNER LARRY & CAROL OLSON'S 1933 FORD 2016 AMBR WINNER DARRYL & TERRI HOLLENBECK'S ROADSTER 2017 AMBR WINNER BRUCE WANTA 1936 PACKARD 2018 AMBR WINNER DAVE MARTIN 1931 FORD 2019 AMBR WINNER GEORGE POTEET 1936 FORD 2020 AMBR WINNER MONTE BELSHAM 1932 FORD 2021 AMBR WINNER not held 2022 AMBR WINNER JEFF BREAULT 1934 CHEVROLET 2023 AMBR WINNER JACK CHISENHALL 1932 FORD 2024 AMBR WINNER BETH MYERS' 1932 FORD 2025 AMBR WINNER BETH & ROSS MYERS' 1936 FORD
