Technical What are you working on?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Lloyd's paint & glass, Jul 18, 2022.

  1. Little Truckdoctor and I finished the exhaust on Papaw today. Nothing fancy, manifolds and 2” pipe with Cherry Bomb Turbo mufflers. I have never been very good at welding exhaust pipes with a MiG welder. I usually ended up with more holes, lots of cursing and welding it together with a Torch and welding rod. (Traditional?) Little Truckdoctor came over, looked at what I was doing, fetched his gloves and Mask, and went to town. Amazing. He had maybe 3 small holes which he quickly fixed and I’m just tickled Shitless. I know who is doing the sheet metal work on our next project! The exhaust sounds great, and now on to the front brakes and master cylinder!

@anthony myrick - The '61 Chevys had 4 headlights and twin nostrils, the best of the lot IMHO. The '63 I had just lacked that flair.

Nice, the rockers & door bottoms are intact, too!

  10. Put the doors back on and fired it up to test the clutch adjustment , just a little more electrical work to go.

  11. Sorta.
I got a better cab and doors I’m messing with
Has perfect rockers and a nice floor but needs a roof , go figure.
Top skins are easier then floors anyway
Current cab is usable. It’s the sons and he digs it like it is.

Just bought a 63 galaxie 500 boxtop R code 427 car. Getting it on it's wheels so I can move it around. No engine or trans but a real R code roller. Have to finish a couple cars in the shop then will start on the Galaxie. Was an old drag car. Raced at utica rohm dragway back on the day has 15 class winner stickers on the window. Found a fresh 427 sohc engine and trans for sale if i can come up with the cash. I know the sohc is not the right period engine for the car but who cares. lol lol

  18. Mike, that’s super cool, it kinda reminds me of the Corvette set up. Will you have it at Lloydfest?

We'll see how it works out. I’ve had this on the wall for almost 10 years.

That flathead looked great but the Caddy will put much bigger smiles on your face when leaving the stop lights

Those are just drop-dead gorgeous. I think an identical set with thee correct bold pattern and correct sizes would be perfect for Clarence.
