Here's a few ugly, mostly unsalvageable roadsters.

please repost the engine test stand on wheels. It’s not a roadster, but man, what character!

One of the what will it look like photos of my boat tail with a cheap swap meet Buick cowl on it.
By cheap meaning that I think I paid ten or less dollars for it after Vince Alcott says "you ought to buy that". I don't think it will get used on the boat tail that seems to be one of my stalled projects.

    Hey @Speedster
Cracking up here to myself !
So the Test stand kind of got under your skin did it?
Well I know what you mean.
Its a 1916 Mack truck frame, with wooden spokes and hard rubber tires, that was originally chain driven.
My former girl friends dad, built it to test his Franklin aircraft engines on, that is a dyna-focal engine mounting bracket on the front.
Up top is a section of wing tank for gravity fuel feed, plus you can see off to the right side, the oil tank. At one time it had a full compliment of vintage gauges on the control panel, plus a throttle quadrant as well.
The end with door is the front of the test stand and you can see the home built tiller that it was steered with.
It was amazingly well built for what it was and what it evolved into!
Bought it for $300.00 and sold it for $1000.00

I sold it years ago, it was a blast to play with when I had it.
So here you go, enjoy from Dennis.

  8. Funny you see an ugly car I see the locked away potential.
T-body and a Flathead It just needs to be dialed in a little.

My vote so far goes to the outhouse with wheels. Even though it’s not a roadster. It’s just cool for what it was and the innovation that went into it. Thanks Dennis!

To your point about the desire to build something, I fell in love with a 28 Roadster Pickup a friend was selling, but it needed a TON of rust repair and the price was... enough.

I put out an ad and found this one. Less than half the price, WAY more solid, but it's the front half of a Phaeton so I've got some work to do there (but have all the parts now). I'm too tall for a stock RPU, so this will allow me to easily make more room in the cab. So it's not quite what I wanted but a good start to build what I want. Also retaining the stock frame, boxing it, etc.

Even cooler, the only money spent so far was the $100 on the fenders at a swap meet. Body, extra cowl tanks, front and rear axles and suspension, crate full of headlights/ bars, 59a flathead and trans, some crossmembers, motor mounts, 3 or 4 steering columns and wheels, etc , all for free for helping a buddy clean out his deceased cousin's house. The cousin was a long time hot rodder and the family figured he would have wanted it to be built and my friend figured i would do something with it

I’d like to clarify the ALBR. It’s not for ugly cars, just less beautiful ones. As @Sharpone stated, “Not an ugly one posted yet”. I agree.

Quick history, Spotted the body in a garage on the way home from church one Sunday in 1962, I was 11 years old. Sold it in 1976, got it back 25 years later in 2001, NOTHING was changed, but did loose a lower stanchion. Progress is slow, but it is a joy to be its caretaker. Bob

This site has some real A**es on it. They delete a post on a viable alternative to disguise a MODERN FIBERGLASS body with a patina wrap because it has a photo of the reat 1/4 panel a modern pony car manufactured by Ford......
Here is an unoffensive shot but it does lack the options that were available in the first post.

I didn’t notice that the rust wrap was deleted. It was creative.

  19. By chance going to channel it with stock fenders? That's a look I love that doesn't get done often
