I spent a lot of time looking at that green scalped black 32 three window the thing just draws a guy in.
I hated that kit when I was a kid myself. Bought it for the roadster, if I remember correctly. Traded the roadster several years later, but still have the remnants of the ala cart
Who built that? I'm curious because I see a couple of ideas I floated to the boss I had years ago. Mainly the Bugatti wheels.
From the Hot Rod magazine write up: "Taking major inspiration from Bugatti cars from the ‘30s, Beth Myers ’32 three-window coupe was built by Iron Hill Hot Rods. Nicknamed Gracie’s Glide, this classy coupe features a Mercruiser four-cylinder engine with a crank-driven supercharger mounted outside the grille. A fascinating tidbit about the engine is that it utilizes a P51 cylinder head from Jon Kaase Racing Engines. The level of detail, from the flawless paint job to the custom-machined wheels, is incredible to behold, and the unique rumble of that 220 cubic-inch four-cylinder engine make it unique among this group. "
Thanks for the reply, it's not my ex boss. But it's amazing how close it is to what we were talking back then.
WOW! Bugatti wheels look GREAT! Is there a bead rolled into the doors or is that just scalloped paint?
I "tried" to build that kit when I was 8-9 years old. It was really tough! It was the only model I couldn't really finish. 1963. Dave
My friend David Gadbury on the left was invited to be in the Suede Palace with the Bob Wilson Roadster. He came halfway across the country from Dallas Texas to enter the Hemi powered car. That is his son on the right - his son has the bug thanks to a great Father in David.
Nice, thanks all for the effort, not to be an ass, but at this calibre of show is there anything not to like?
Thanks for all the great pictures guys. Some fantastic cars. Neat to see all the past winners, especially Tognotti’s T, Ala Kart, Blackie’s and Jake’s cars. The newer builds are great, but the ones from the past, well that’s where it all started for me.
Thank YOU, @daylatedollarshort. Very well said Thank You @Anderson and @abe lugo for sharing your efforts. Beautiful thread
I also want to thank everyone who took the time not only to capture their experience there, but also download and share them here. I was not able to make it and missed a great show.
Great pictures, thanks for posting them. This one was our clubs pic for the awards ceremony in the Suede Palace.
