Here's some pics of the new stainless rear spreader bar (front soon). The pain in the butt top hood hinges. This was a one piece hood, but changed my mind. Cut out the center, riveted 1/2" aluminum angle using solid aircraft rivets. Marked and drilled the holes for #10 screws, but only used #8 hardware to get some adjustment room. So far so good? Decided to sell the back wheels and cheater slicks. They just seem a bit to big plus not very streetable. Look in for sale! PXL_20250208_183813072.jpg PXL_20250208_183821831.jpg

Agreed, keeping the slicks and getting a set of 7" Torq Thrust and the Auburn Diamondback Deluxe 1000-15-15 tires. So it will depend on my mood which rear shoes will go on that day!!

Bad news, won't get them till May. Talked to the guy at Diamond back, he confirmed that they won't get them till the end of April! Oh well, lots of things to do on the mean time?

Five bucks says they are made in China. My new American Racing Torq Thrust were made there.
Maybe China Racing Torq Thrusts would be more appropriate? Sad

The problem with the slicks is that you mounted them wrong. Put the whitewall out.

I tried out, looked wrong with black walls on the front. I am going to groove the slicks and remove the not for highway warnings! You know what, I like your idea, I will turn them out this year!! I think it will be a great look. Thanks!!

My love of whitewall drag slicks came from seeing them on the Monogram 1/8scale models and Roth's Mysterion. When I could finally afford to buy the Monogram Big T, it came with blackwall tires. Hated that.

They aren't cheater slicks either, true dragslicks. I plan on sanding off the warnings and groove them and go. How's that for a pair? Zoom in on the sidewall back half. You can read the message. PXL_20250208_183813072.jpg

  20. Yea, I know what they are, Pie crust. I run a set of Radir slicks on the street. Did not bother to remove the warning. Just don't get caught in rain. Been there.

  22. The Radir pie crust slicks I have are now around 500.00 or a little more each. Price depends on size you want as well.

Ok back to the coupe! Installed the front stainless spreader bar. Nice addition. Hood hinges are ready to align and bolt on. Latches and receiver tubes are next. PXL_20250216_010255890.jpg PXL_20250216_010313478.jpg

@Splitbudaba , that was a lot of work to split open a one piece hood. I commend you. Much like ladies swim wear, on the right body the two piece is a nice choice and well worth the effort.

I have done this procedure several times and it looks like you don't good! The last step I do is to polish the tire with a buffer where I sanded off the lettering. I hit it with 2000 wet paper and then an old bonnet that is headed to the garbage can. It doesn't take much speed to melt rubber so keep it under control.

Good to know, I will try that. I did it on the white wall side too. Only problem is the inside of some of the letters were white? Surprise, surprise, surprise!! Black shoe polish worked great! Any other ideas?
