I'd say that's a boatload of work done! Cant figure out when you sleep! Hope you get back to cars soon!

  2. Finished the lake pipe on the Chevy last night....even welded it on my new welding table I got on sale from Eastwood a while back, just like a big boy instead of working in a cramped 18 inches of floor space with the junk kicked out of the way. Haha! Tomorrow I meet with the plumbers who started yesterday as well. Sleep? What's that? Haha!

Slowly but surely- fortunately no more problem areas and hope to have painted by end of the month.

While I like the tbird seats I seem to continue to find the most rusted out parts known to mankind- these are what’s left of the seat sliders!

    Fortunately found a replacement.

  4. Back to steps forward! Excellent!

That's a cherry looking seat track right there! Funny, the ones in my merc had chewed up teeth and what not and I found new tracks and parts and got them both working when I rewired the car....and of course set them where I like them and they haven't moved since. LOL

    FINALLY!
Took much longer than I thought it would but at least in this area there are very few shops willing to even look at an old car let alone paint it and I do understand why. This shop has a staff that really cares about their work and I think they did a great job.
Will take awhile to put back together, I’ll follow up as I get close to finishing.

    Ready to go!

Would never get done without the help of my crack staff!

    Thanks for looking.

  11. Second time’s the charm!!! Looks great!! So, kinda funny (but not at the time) semi related Merc paint story….

40 years ago I built a model Merc for a local contest. Was painting the window trim the night before it was due and got a liiiiiiiittle outside the line. Naturally, I had to fix it and got out the blue paint and a brush (I had airbrushed the body). Of course, that left an even bigger brush mark. The whole thing quickly escalated into repainting the whole body, which ended up with a thinner reaction and a total mess. My parents made me put it together and turn it in anyhow as a lesson. After the contest I brought it home, put it in a bag and it has been there ever since….until a couple weeks ago. I decided I was over the hurt and decided to strip it and repaint it. Guess what…screwed up this paint job too (clear hazed) so it’s back in the stripper for a second time. Haha!! So glad yours turned out awesome the second time!! Home stretch!!

Always enjoy your stories, I do think screwups like mine just make us a little stronger! Hope you're doing well and will find time to get back on your Merc!

Seeing Dr. Dave’s mercury comments reminded me I haven’t posted for quite awhile either as my wife’s health has slowed progress down to a halt but the other day one of my grandsons kicked me in the butt and said he wanted to help put it back together- while I enjoy the help it’s the BS I really enjoy with he and his brother. Maybe we’ll get it done yet!

Taillights are in, battery placed and wired, and because I’m old we installed trunk lifts!
