Getting ready to hit the road, it's a long drive to Scranton! Weather looks kind of chilly and wet on the more northern direct route, so we might head east on 10/20 until we get to I59. We'll see what happens. If the car keeps running, that is. https://24hoursoflemons.com/rally-details/?id=424
The sun has risen, And the sun has set, And we ain't through $%&@#! Texas yet. This is where cruise control really, really, really helps. Russ p.s. Sounds like a great trip
Thanks! Fuel pickup clogged just before Las cruces. Blew it out, back on the road. If it keeps up, I'll have to fix it. I do have a plan.
Car is working OK now. Made it to big spring, might try for the other side of Dallas tonight. Long drive.
they only let you use late model cars, unfortunately. Yes, I checked. Made it to Dallas, on to Knoxville? next? the radiator sock was a bit full again. It seemed to be getting a little warm.
made it to knoxville, the starter is acting up, kind of due to the carb acting up (won't start after sitting a few minutes, acts flooded) More fun tomorrow! and we stopped at Buc-ees
Have fun on the trip there, then doing the Lemons, and back home. Any estimate of total miles for the trip?
Just remember Jim, when you look around and think "These guys are weird", you drove out to be with them and you showed up in a Checker!
driving around town here at night and it's wet, really hard to see anything. Stopped at walmart, got a pair of cheezy driving lights, installed them. probably won't help much.
So cool to be up at this hour of the morning, here on the west coast in the Pacific Northwest, watching the progress of the "Pride of KALAMAZOO / SIERRA VISTA" getting ready to be the ultimate utility road warrior! Good luck to team @squirrel / Black and BLUE
Nashville is one perpetual traffic jam. Three interstates come together to use one bridge to cross the river. It's always going to be bad. Just bump along and eventually you will get through it. It's best to bypass Nashville if yyou can.
Doing fine, haven't got stuck yet. A couple other cars went where they probably shouldn't have, and did.
Driving 50-60 miles out of your way to miss Nashville is probably faster then driving through the area most of the time. We did get across the bridge and out of the area at 10 am one weekday morning before Covid, and actually got through the mess in just over an hour! I was socked!
Well as usual I am late to the party! I live in Erie, this isn't the best time of the year to visit! I realize your time here is short but if you need anything between now and when you depart please reach out. I will pm you my contact info.
