    I've never heard of them before but had to do a little search, looks like they were a big deal. Found this...

    Reminds me a little of the house I grew up in. Build in 1947 in the first neighborhood of what would become Lakewood Ca, every house came with it's own incinerator in the back yard, Was still there in '59 when my folks bought it from the original owners, my grandparents. Not sure the could still be used then. It was big, like a built in BBQ. I have pics, should dig them out.

    Yes it is. I've also put on the brake drum backwards and after loosely putting on the lug nuts used the drum itself as something of a slide hammer. In a pinch you do all kinds of things.

    That chain thru the wheel register hole thing leaves me cold. A few good thumps and now your wheel won't mate up to the axle shaft because the register is not round anymore...
