In 1967 the Tootsie Roll factory moved into a portion of the plant where radial engines were built for the B-29. The plant was called Dodge Chicago and Chrysler built more than 18,000 Pratt-Whitney engines for the war effort. Later Tucker leased some of the property from the Federal Govt for his ill- fated car and for a short time Ford built aircraft engines there for the Korean War. The south side of the property has long been known as Ford City, a large shopping destination.
