Too much stuff going on. There's no motor or trans in it. I have a 1946 59AB motor for it that needs to gone through and a 39 trans for it.

I’m pretty sure those mount on the frame in the center of the opening about where the handle is located to help hold the hood in position and from being pushed towards the engine.

Gettin there on aligning the hood/grill shell... but I need some info on the lacing. On the cowl does it go in the "trough" or in front of the trough? I have many empty screw holes in front of the cowl trough but at the bottom, I don't see anything that would catch the J hooks if you were to run in in front of the trough.
The shell looks pretty straight forward other than there is a ridge in the sheet metal that would run under the lace top to bottom on both sides. Seems like it would make it that much harder to keep the lace in that location. The J hook holes basically set the lace to run over that ridge. Anyone got pics??
    Thanks,
    Dave

In front. I think the trough is a water drip type thing. IMG_4141.jpeg

Jeff, you have any J hooks being used on the cowl lacing? My kit came with 4 but I dont have any slots. I'm thinking its used on other years etc. One size fits all kinda deal.

Does anyone have a better seal they found to use on the grill shell vs. the lacing that comes in the Vintique grill shell lacing kit? Its much to thick and has no channel to ride the "hump" that runs down the center of the shell sealing flange. The lacing wants to either run in front or behind the hump and if you place it on the hump the hood sticks up about a fat 1/4" too high. See pics.

Original stuff is not supposed to ride on top of the ridge, it’s supposed to fit in the rearward groove. Might want to crush it a bit in the vise before installing.

The problem is the U clips aim it at the ridge, it will work its way rearward but I thought that looked dumb/ incorrect. I ran it through my bead roller... one of em popped lol.

Maybe it’s different than 32 stuff that I’m familiar with. I do know 33-34 passenger grille welting has a groove in the middle. But it’s held onto the flat passenger surface with split rivets along the whole length. Not a clip at each end like the commercial does.

Looking back in this thread you can see how the welting fits on Jeff34’s truck in his pics. Right in the rearward groove, running over the mounting screws.

Ok I'm back at it! Holidays are over and its time to swing the hammer. Giving up on the hood/ rad shell for now. Lets talk about doors seals. Can anyone tell me where the bumpers go and how many there are? On the door or cab? These doors were stripped so I'm needing bumpers and seals (looks like there was one seal along the bottom inside edge?), glass channels and the bar that the glass rests on. I have latches and regulators. Thanks!

Need some help on finding a post! I somehow ended up seeing a post on here for a 34 Ford pickup that was for sale. A gorgeous gold metallic finished hot rod. Flatty, wide whites, white with black interior, 37 Ford taillights with Zephyr lenses, listed for around 65K and sold for 55K. Can anyone point me to that post? I of course closed the page and damn if I can find it! Thanks, Dave

Didn't see the for sale one, sorry.
You keep having fitment issues with your front sheetmetal.
It's been suggested that you start with the cab mounting, which is a good point. However, while the sheetmetal looks good but loose on the frame, it would be a good idea to check the frame for straightness first. You'd hate to get it all set up only to find something off and fix that only to redo the alignment.

Hoping you fine gents can point me towards that gold 34 pickup referenced above.
@ RodStRace, body is on with proper wood kit and shimmed so the doors close/ align very nicely. The frame is pretty darn nice and in most of its original pain. I don't see any crash damage but your correct in that you never know. I'll inspect further when I remove the cab entirely.

What years of tailgates didn't have the Ford name on them? Mine does not have it. Got a local guy selling one that he states is a 34 and it has the Ford name on it. I'd like the Ford name personally. Its good looking script.

  21. All wide bed 31 through 34 tailgates lack Ford script. They have the 3 long hinge brackets and two rectangle beads. 35 was the first year of the script on the tailgate.

Any idea what years 35 and up will fit the 34 and older? I know I can measure and will but just curious.
    Thanks, Dave

Hey so looking at the two trucks in the link above, they dont have the exposed 3 bar hinges. What year are those tailgates?

  27. That hinge design is the 37-41 setup and those are 37 tailgates. One year only design.
