Well about 6 months ago we started work on a 39 ford that was originally SCULPTED by the guy who built pirates of the caribean at disney land. It had a carson top with zephyr rear fenders and a packard grille with packard fender caps. The grille was held in place with chicken wire and bondo. the trunk was buried under about an inch of bondo. We could see what the builder was trying to do but just lacked the fine tuning needed. As we got to working on it and building a new ch***is and making a few tasteful modifications and fabricating the panels to fix it, we decided to have Eric Black a designer in Portalnd draw the car with a Duvall windshield and a work with it from where we had started. So here are some of his renderings and want the car used to look like and looks like now. We are getting started on the duvall and working on the never ending sheetmetal work. This car leaves most people speechless.
Well My computer does not want to cooperate on the resize. It got the name helen keller from the very poor fabrication and Jimmy Haffa for the 6" space cavity between the old fender and the packard cap. We thought Jimmy Haffa might be buried in there. Rodger
Wow! We definately need more pictures. If you need me to resize your pictures, let me know and I'll PM you my email address.
Funny You should say that, The guy who owns this car is an auto mechanic who lives in Bakersfield. He works on Bucks cars all the time. The green car is there usually once a month. We have had many discussion about his car while looking over the that green car. that car is actually for sale not that buck has past on. Thanks for the comments guys this car has been a blast to design and work on. It should be *****en. I will see about some more pics Rodger
Hey Roger, Any other info on the original builder, also did that car start life as a more-door? Was the vehicle ever finished and roadable? There is a '38 Ford Convertable rollin around SoCal with that same vibe. Same "interesting craftsmanship" and off-scale pur- portions, but a real custom, in its own way. S****ey Devils C.C.
I don't know the original builders name I just know he built the pirates of the caribean ride and then got 1 million dollars for doing that and then for the rest of his life he worked on cars and smoked dope. 10 cars or so were all purchased from this guy about 5 years ago and they were all built with high dollar cars and parts like 36 3 window that he made a roadster out or this model A that has a 409 in it, or this 39 that has packard and zephyr stuff on it. I doubt these cars ever saw the street, they had some ****py construction. But the 39 had some parts on it from 80's cars. It almost seems like the original guy never got the run able but sombody tried in the 80's to get them running you could see a bit of a difference in the craftsmanship. Other than that, that is all we know. It should be awesome some day. Rodger
Looks good! Really good! Old E Black has nice stuff he is doing. I want to build a certain one he has sketched. Im looking for the car now.
