Hi, I'm looking for a user named "hardware" or anyone else that can help. I'm trying to help my mom hook my dad up with the jacket from his long lost love...his car club, "Road Hoppers" from Richmond CA. We want to give him a jacket for Christmas. The jacket they wore then. It had a kangaroo on the back and I believe it was tan. If someone has at least a picture of it I can have one made. Any help would be much appreciated. Also, I someday want to build a 356 Speedster so if anyone has one (or knows someone who does) laying around with no motor, etc. I'd like to look at it. I want to build one...either that or a 56 Chevy conv. Not likely though. Thanks F@tboy
Hey there. My dad was in the Road Hoppers too. He grew up racing around Richmond and all the northern California drag strips. He had a jacket but lost track of it several years ago. I remember him saying it was a "camel hair" jacket but I don't think he ever mentioned the logo. I'll call him up and ask him about it. I had the Road Hoppers listed as my car club in my profile for a while as a joke but never thought anyone else would ever get it.
Just got off the phone with my dad. He said that the Road Hoppers were based in El Sobrante. He also said it was a pretty good size club with 50+ people in it, so there is probably someone out there with an old jacket or at least a picture of one. The logo was of a Kangaroo from behind that had valve covers on it's back with exhaust pipes. The car club from Richmond that my dad was in later on was called the Richmond Pinions.
