IMG_9786.jpeg Burl and I are building a race car, we are going similar to the Art Gerrick car.
What are the front spring hanger and shakle off.
I do not think it is Franklin or Chevy

I also agree it isn’t Chevy. I could use a pair like that for my project.

@Moriarity had a hand on it some time ago. He may know. The car was featured in Hot Rod magazine in May 1951, maybe it has some info. This is also one of my favorite cars.

  6. Going from long memory, but those rear seem similar to F-1? Too many years and don't have one handy to look at, but that is my first thought. Front is certainly not F-1.

In the old days the 3-springer was a popular setup, and I think Essex frames were a common use? Maybe that is what was used?

Those hangers are similar to Cadillac model 30 (1912-13) rear hangers, so can the hangers be Olds rear?

Yup, I do not know... Could be some kind of early truck? If it were me I would plan a trip to French lake auto parts and look. Pretty sure they still have a pile of 30's and 40's trucks there....

It does'nt look too hard to fabricate from steel plate, then have it shot blasted to give the texture of cast or forged.

  10. I wish I would have seen those before I made mine. Looks much more period than what I made. I agree they should be easy to copy and make to look cast. 20241124_092224.jpg

  11. I have part of an Essex frame in the barn. I’ll take a look this weekend.
