Picked up a NOS General Kenetics cam seems very mild. But building a simple cruiser Here’s the catalogue info For a .060 235 with a slightly milled 848 head. Got a chance to purchase the other cam listed in the catalogue. I’m dang near ignorant on 235 cam specs Got a 261 cam in my stash of parts somewhere. Any thoughts on these cams?
Have an Edmund’s 2x1 with yfs. Found a W1 locally and looking for one more almost bought a 3x1 but don’t think the rear carb would fit the AD truck
Of the two, the first one is by far the most preferrable and not too mild for a cruiser. The second one is pretty much race only. jack vines
If I were building a 'simple cruiser' and had a good 261 cam, that would be my choice. Good enough for early 'vetts, and trucks, good enough for me.
I keep getting what seems conflicting internet info. Some say the trucks all used the same cam from mid 50s up,235-261 The engine I’m using is from a 59 truck. I’ve also got a low mile 61 truck 235. I found this Some internet info said the 261 was the same as the vette. Crap if I know. so the cam I bought has slightly more lift and a good bit more duration. And info like this
Are the cam specs on your card are in total degrees? The others are at 0.050, which is what you need for equal comparison. I would guess that 230 total is probably close to 190 at .050, but of course it depends on ramp rate and exact cam grind configuration.
I’ll take a better pic of the card and check the back side when I get home Edit: was able to revert the card pic back to original
Here is the cam card for the bulldog cam from Tom. I ask about springs, he said stock was fine. .060 261 0 decked with 848 head.
