    Hello,

One of our goals as hot rod teenagers was to have a fast car. “Been there, done that…” so, what the hot rod days allowed us to do was fun and very exciting. It came to an abrupt halt, but it allowed both my brother and I to step back and look at what was offered for us to pursue for the rest of our future path.

All along, I thought the easy going lifestyle of going to high school, working on our hot rod builds and racing was the path we were both going to take. We had already opened up a small, (if one wanted to call a backyard garage a business…) business of buying parts from dealers and warehouses and giving our friends a super discount seemed fun and prosperous. Not rolling in the money, but just enough to help our friends and get a part or two for our own build.

Back then, there were several shops set up in small homes converted to speed shops and other businesses. they were near the full industrial shop areas and so could pass mustard as an addition to the approved industrial zone versus a residential zone. When homes are interspersed between pumping oil bobbing behemoths, then the designation of specific zones is blurred.

So, we looked forward to expanding our tiny accessories to larger projects to generate more income. This was supposed to be leading into a future for both of the brothers to possibly pursue. We had the place, the clients and good attitude for running a small business. it was something we both liked and wanted to get better at our skills and goals.

We always talked to each other about projects, now and in the future, when we could build a new one, while racing the original build. in this case, a 671 SBC motor in a Willys Coupe was the starting point. Then other motor builds and complete cars + drag racing hot rods would fall into place. It was a future we would like and fit into our own time schedule.

We actually liked this modified RPU, but it was in the Altered Roadster or Hot Roadster Class and not the street roadster class. So, ideas flew like the large contingent of swallows coming back to the Mission in San Juan Capistrano, every year.

A custom truck or station wagon for towing the Willys Coupe, a new RPU or roadster build for the street roadster class as that was the most exciting version of drive the streets and race the same hot rod at the drags open to just about anyone. It was the same in the Gas Coupe and Sedan class which we were locked into for our enjoyment.

So, ideas were easy and inexpensive. An RPU with a powerful motor, a street roadster for the roadster class and if we took off the fenders, the same roadster, now in a “hot roadster or modified roadster class.

One of the final choices ended up as a roadster that looked "streetable," while competing in the modified roadster class with a 301 SBC motor with a 671 supercharger. YRMV

the latest art for other people...

A local (plastic scale) model car club, I did their artwork years ago and they wanted something new.

I've also finally branched into a little bit of merch.

started with buttons off all things...

    and they sold out FAST.

So I moved on to stickers, and they are HOT too.

The tamale wagon got it's own sticker..

and the button artwork cleaned up and made into a sticker.

let me know if you need one.

  11. Got some stickers made for Autorama and beyond. The sticker sheets are off the phone so there is some glare from the lights.

  14. For Stude Week: a pen & ink drawing from 1963 of a good friend's Olds powered Studebaker. I striped the entire engine compartment before the engine was installed. I think the car still exists. Wish l had owned a camera back then. IMG_20250221_172530.jpg

    @Sharpone
So far Dan, there are only 3 aliens, look closely, there are two of them on the same plank of wood on the fence, and the 3rd one is hanging upside down on the A frame, everyone's results may vary greatly!
