    I'd say yes.
My 39 has no welt and it looks off. I'm planning to yank the sheetmetal and add it back in. Color choice is the quandary...
    Bitchin ride BTW.

Yes. We got our upholstery guy to make some the matching colour as you are planning.

Well, looks like your choices would be welt, no-welt or lead your fenders to the car. Since leading your fenders and fairing them into the car would destroy that nice paint, I believe that welt would be in order.

Seems like everyone is saying yes to welt so I’ll skip voting on that but I will say lean more towards black welting than blue.

its going to be very hard to get a good match to the blue, and in my head it either ends up looking like you painted the welting or makes me think of cars with neon blue spark plug wires. Dunno just a gut feeling on that.

I dunno. I would probably just do a gasket of sorts, no piping.

Yup, black. I can save 27$ by making our own. lol, but it’s good practice for my wife on her new upholstery machine

  17. No fenders, thus no welt. That takes care of that.:p

    Welt is best.

  20. The welting can be painted, stops squeaks, seals fender gap and "disappears" = best of both worlds

Guess I'm in the minority, I think it will look better without.

  24. While it sounds like you can make your own; @hotrodhoodlum has an add for black marine vinyl fender welt in the classifieds. I've bought his welt a couple times so far; good quality stuff at a fair price.

I prefer no welting, but it is your car. The welting becomes a trap for dirt, debris and even polish and it is more of a pain to keep looking nice and in position after a few years. Take the time to make your fenders fit better, even if you have to add a few extra fasteners. I have a piping attachment on my sewing machine too, but I don't let it dictate what I make.

Nochop. That is one sweet ride so I doubt it will make a profound visual difference either way. This last build we decided against welt and glad we did. IMG_3953.jpeg

Nice car but I still think it would look better with welting. It just seems "incomplete". But, again, not my car.
