Ok, I'm here in San Antonio and I'll be here till December. I'm staying right on the river walk but the bars here suck "at least the ones on the river walk".... So wtf is there to do here? Any upcoming car events around here, I know theres a bunch in Dallas but that's not too close.
I'm sure there is something there, The Barons are in that area maybe they can send you in the right direction. You could always go to Austin!
The Pig Stand restraunt on Broadway has a little show every Fri night, weather permitting. I even saw a killer coupe w/ a HAMB tag on the firewall last Friday! Its mostly a eclectic gathering of cars- street machines, lowrider or two, muscle cars, hot rods, a few bikes.....
Don't know what kind of bars you are looking for, but I always liked to go to Durty Nelly's Irish Pub on the riverwalk. Gets somewhat rowdy later in the night.
Some (often most) of us Barons hang out at a local shop on Sundays and Bar B Que. The Pigstand swap on Broadway is on the last sunday of every month. There are some cruise nights, but I haven't been to one in years. My neighbor has a Corvette and his garage is allot closer. Unfortunately, you missed our Kerville event by about 2 weeks. While you're here, make sure you check out Pico De Gallo downtown. If your on per diem, check out Delores Del Rio. The food and bands are great! I don't get out to the clubs much anymore (2 kids and a custom being built), but Sean Castillo is the guy to see music wise. Best club for live stuff is Casbeers. Austin is just an hour up the road. Kerrville is about the same and it is quickly becoming HOT ROD MECCA. PM me your number and we'll find you some stuff to keep you entertained.
Thanks a lot guys! I'm just sick of sitting in this damn hotel room. I really appreciate it guys, thanks Crease I pm'd you my cell. Give me a ring I'd love to come by and check out some cars if that's cool. Thanks again -Zipp
If you are available during a week day, Stop by and visit us @ Vintage Air, would be happy to give a shop tour and you can check out Jack's Stude. We are located on the NE side of town, very close to the Hanging Tree Saloon where Sean Castillo normally plays every 2nd Sat of the month - he puts on a great show. Last Fri. cruse night was ok @ Biff Busby's (Whataburger I35 & Topperwien) mostly corvettes but some nice street rods and muscle cars. Word of caution, stay away from Slick Willie @ all cost!!!!!
Well, if you want to check out college age women bending over the retaining wall to feed the dolphins then go over to Sea World. You'll notice all the guys tend to stand back aways and watch the women bending over who are watching the Dolphins. You just might meet someone to go out with while you are there. Welcome to S.A. I would stay away from the river walk bars there tooo expensive!!! I dont know what kind of bars you usually hang out at but if you let me know I might be able to point you in the right direction. And take Creases advice on the restraunts they are excellent. And we usually BBQ at the shop that Crease is talking about on most Sundays.
I'll have to take you up on that offer one of these days when I get off work early. I'll drop by maybe tomorrow if work is slow...
Come up to Austin Friday 11/3.. there is some crazy hot rod guitar dude playing 11/3 at the Saxon Pub with a little pre-show at the South Austin Speed Shop, go to the World Famous Continental Club Saturday and then see Junior Brown Sunday back at the Speed Shop on Sunday....Don't get any better than that! I spent 6 yrs in SA and got to Austin every chance I could til I got a chance to move here. dp
Welcome to San Antonio. I work in the downtown area. I don't know if you are working downtown, or just staying there, but let me know if you want to meet for lunch or something. Slonaker
Yeah go to biffs on friday night. but I have to agree with "coolair" stay away from "slickwillie" He's kinda gay!
I'm stayin at the Residence Inn, Not the one right on the riverwalk but the one more towards the getto .... I mean the Alamo. I'm doing some work at Kelly field, but most days I get off pretty early since my part of the what we're doing is small. Thanks for the welcome guys I look forward to meeting some of you hopefully, where you work Slonaker maybe I'll stop by sometime or PM and I'll give you a ring.
