I'm for welting. I tried no welting on my fat fender Ford, and it looked unfinished. I redid it with the welting.

I don’t think I ever seen a 32 with fender welts. Nice coupe, nice job getting around those pesky frame horns

When I did my F-100 it too me a long time to decide yay or nay on fender welting. I decided no, but I made up a vinyl gasket, same color as the paint-almost-to hopefully alleviate squeaks and rattles. It wasn’t the easiest thing to get it all into place, especially on the rear fenders. So far so good. I just liked the look better without the welt. IMG_0418.jpeg

I'm actually surprised how many guys are attached to the welting. Seems more restoration than hot rod to me.

  6. Use the welting, it's traditional. HRP

If the fenders fit properly, no welting looks good. PICT0220.JPG

  9. Look through a book like Andy Southard's Hot Rods of the 50's everything with fenders had welt. Usually silver by the looks of it.

  11. Your Coupe is looking great!
The welt I have issue with are the ends, if they can be hidden, and or finished rather than a raw blunt cut off, I'd go that route.

What about some type of clear adhesive tape?

    Hello,

A nicely finished hot rod for sure… keep it the way it came, but your build will be solid with the welts. Here is a Model A coupe with the smooth look and to me, it is fine. Anything to help with body parts rubbing, leaking and not being stock in function.

My vote from an old hot rod/drag race guy that has seen plenty of cool hot rods over this long time in So Cal. YRMV
