Just looking to see who's paying attention!

  4. The trunk emblem is a SBC V8 emblem, which makes sense because the car is just a regular Impala and not a SS.

There is the key in aces. It wasn't one that a dealer would order out to put in the showroom. one might get ordered for a dealer's wife who got her hands on the order book but that is doubtful. Remembering that in the early 60's though the mid 70's the best car to buy was the dealer's wife' demo because that car had been sorted out to the Nth degree before she took it and was usually a very pristine low mile car when she turned it in for the next one and it usually had all the bells and whistles.
I've seen a number of 409 4 speed Station wagons and used to have to race against one or actually loose to one in G/stock in 1969 in Texas that had the back side window covered with national event win stickers and held the record we were running on a time or two. That thing would eat my lunch and keep the sack.
The 61 Impala 2 door hard top is one of the best looking Chevys ever built in my book but I don't ever remember seeing a real super sport in person. That includes going to some events where the rich and famous show up with what they will feel is the most interesting car in their collection for the folks at that event. That car was actually an Allard that a gent who is a Microsoft billionaire showed up at the Henry's Haulers events in the 80's with open exhaust and the car was a survivor. No one would have paid much attention to one of his Ferrari's but that car drew attention.

Damn now this has me wanting to look for a 71 Impala.

Just went through all 13 pages
I don’t have any pictures or recollections of a 1961 Chevrolet 4 door Impala SS
    but
I do have a couple thoughts

This thread is much like the movie, Groundhog Day
    and
If offered today, the Impala SS would only be offered in a 4 door
    Oh ya
    Bump

I have a 96 SS, would be neat to have a 61 parked next to it!

So after 13 pages the thought is it was advertised but never built? What a let down. The four door hardtop would have been a cool car.
