Curious how many of these X-4's were produced by Edelbrock? Must have been a real early casting for the early BBC's because 2x4s and tunnel rams were more abundant by late 60's.?.?
Edelbrock was making the sbc version in 58 and ironically they were still producing them in 2018. I would think the bbc version came out in 65 when they started mass producing the 396 Here's a sale ad from 1969
Honestly don't know as it depends on the carbs used. It's is dual patern drilled for both the 3 bolt base and 4 bolt base carbs.
The only one I have ever seen in person or online. Can't even find any info with a google or yahoo search.
Cool! Thanks! First ad I've seen with them listed. I have a '65 1/2 Honest Charley catalog and there isn't one listed in there... that I can find.
I've never seen one in person and have had several X1s X2s and X3s. I even ran across and owned a Man a Fre for big block. I've also been going to most Socal and Norcal swaps for the last 30 years. Never seen an X4. They probably made them..but they must be super rare.
Pretty sure this is an X-4 by Edelbrock. Kinda rough in spots, they didn't take much time smoothing out the rough edges.
At the mention of the CFM question, 2 bbl and 4 bbl carbs use a different criteria to measure this. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/2bbl-vs-4-bbl-cfm-flow-ratings.786212/ So where would a 6x2 enter into that rating? It IS a valid measurement, but is only to make sure the engine isn't terribly restricted. Lots of other things come into the equation. https://www.physicsforums.com/threa...g-adding-more-air-to-intake-manifold.1078469/
