I know it's been asked a ton of times. But I was going to put a 302 in my 50 Ford shoebox but when I started to size it up. I noticed that that front cross member won't fit a front oil sump. And even with a rear sump I think it will still hit it. Now when I tried to look it up on forums, no one talks about cutting that cross member open and but the clearance needed isn't there. I know a rear sump is a option but even with that I feel like the clearance won't fit
I think Shoebox Central sells the motor mount kit that Butch's Cool Stuff sold. Using that kit places the engine in just the right spot so a Fox Body oil pan clears the front crossmember and the drag link. There are two 302 rear sump oil pans. One with a dip stick tube and one without. Ford blocks after 1983 put the dipstick tube in the block on the driver's side. If using an earlier block, you will need the pan with the dipstick.
