19Eddy30....yes, that is some good information. This thread is of particular interest since Blowby was running a 144 B&M on a 305, which is what I have. I'm thinking it would be "real world" experience if Blowby has recollection of details. I sent him a PM to ask for info that might be helpful. Thanks.

Got a note this was bumped. I’m still using mine at the cabin. Been trouble free. Stock Q-jet. It’s sitting here right now if anything I can answer.

Awesome, and thanks for posting. Big question I have is what pulley diameters you're running on the crank and blower, and how much boost it produces. You still have it on a 305? That's what I have and seem to recall current compression ratio is about 9:1 or 9.5:1. Thinking of putting on composite head gaskets about .020" thicker than the current steel shim gaskets that are currently on the engine to slightly reduce the static compression ratio. Cam is a mild RV cam about 280 adv. duration and .480" lift. Current carb is a 600 Holley dual line double pumper and I run 91 octane non-ethanol gas. The engine is in a 60's style front engine dragster that is just bracket raced for the fun factor.

Any input or recommendations you would have to offer based on your experience would be very much appreciated. I have an opportunity to pick up a 144 B&M blower and just trying to find out what I might be getting into.

    Thanks!

    @lake_harley
    Sounds like 90638 = 5 ish psi on 305
    Pulley size 3.800 top
    These are Just rough estimates,
I have ran the 144s on
    2.3 ford
All the way to 408 sbc ,
Keep Rpms around under 6,200 ish,
    "" I have bang, twisted
    rotors @ 0ver 7,000
    On 351
I have used for head gaskets
    Stock shim
    Felpro O ring
    Copper ,
    & copper with O ringed ,
    Good all round would be
    FelPro O ring like 1004 style ,
Cosmic good also , Nitrous /Boosted gasket.
    Cams
Stock cams , to custom ,
The Rv cam worked well 114-116 ,
I have run Locked Timing & timing curved ,
    I would say ,
    EACH combo diffrent
    305 with 9.5 with 5psi under boost =13.5
    Around 15-20 initial
    Total 30-35
    91-93 pump with methanol/ethanol blend
    Some places 94 on pump
You can get away with little more Now,
Then before 2000 ish gas blend/formula
    Spark plugs like 44T
Up or down One heat range
    The More you learn understand
    More you can experiment
& Blower will like a 750 Vac or Mechanical,
790-830 maybe if you have stock piles of 40 or so of carbs available

    I Believe Weinand purchase B&M
    Then Holley purchased Weiand
As fair as I know top pulleys are compatible with each drive just different sizes OD of pulley
    ""drive percentage""
    Change ,

Pulley & Hub before 2006 ish
    Including
    Vortec Blow threw
    &
    Kenny Bell Roots

Can’t really get in there to measure pulleys. I do have a boost gauge and will drive it tomorrow. I just run unleaded regular. Seems fine.

19Eddy30.....Wow! A wealth of information! Thank you.

Yeah, it would take some gyrations to get in there to measure, but maybe just the diameter of the blower pulley? If you get a boost number it would be great to know.

I might be mistaken but isn't the Dimension "A", 6.79" the dimension of the distance of the crank pulley in front of the block, and not the crank pulley diameter? The photos I received of the blower in question had a tape measure across the crank pulley diameter and it looked like 6". The photos I received of the blower in question. In any case, I think the blower I have spotted has the long and the short snouts and shafts included.

Thanks for the blower boost/effective compression ratio chart.

No ,, The OD of pulley size.
    6.79 OD really = 6.800 Bottom
    Top 3.8 OD = 3.800 & = 4-5 Psi of boost,
Average , not set in stone !!! But close.
Also Factory B&M & most of 144 for ""SBC ""
Where design for long water pump set ups ,,,
With Lathe & Know how they can be modified

    9.5 static compression
With 4 psi of boost full throttle =12.1 ish
    Compression ratio

with 5 psi of boost full throttle
    = 13.5.1 ish compression ratio
