Does anyone know the year of this Dodge Bros touring firewall? I can provide other pics, but this doesn't look like other DB firewalls I've seen around these here parts. Seems like there's normally a sunburst or some embossed stuff like that. Thanks.
Here’s the serial number plates you’ll need to register the thing: https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/1918-24-dodge.1314972/
Your doors are '20-early '22. They have the one piece doors where '19 and earlier have door tops that are screwed on and early doors have forged narrower hinges where as yours are the wider stamped hinges. The hinge pockets are spaced a little different so the door will not interchange. So your body is '20-'22. Late '22 and '23 is wider and taller in the cowl and have a curved lower w/s similar to '24-'27 w/s bottom. @34 GAZ , your dating on yours is about right because of the rear fender mounting. Dave
I have a dozen or so Dodge Brothers cars and just made a deal for several more plus a bunch of DB parts. I have a bunch of open car doors as well. It's a sickness! Dave
@burl That's an early body with no holes for hood lacing, the glove box, the teardrop speedo hole and the slot below the light switch/ignition swith is for a notched choke/enrichner strap! Probably about a '16 if I remember right. I have 1 of those dash boards with glovebox. Dave
Thanks Dave. I know the speedos not correct but was the right price. I do have the strap for the choke. I was lucky to find and air gauge to match my pressure pump.
Dave, when was the no slots for hood lacing? I know the shape of the slots changed some but don't remember when they didn't have any at all. The '14 and '15 had them. That choke thing kind of looks like a hacksaw blade with a finger ring on the end.
Doug, I was thinking those early years like '14 '15 maybe '16 but you are closer to those years than I. I have seen both radiator shells and cowls with no lacing holes. What years had the glove box for sure? Dave
It goes to the comment they never built two DBs the same. You haven't seen it but I have a real '14 and it has oval slots, almost round like this car. And it has notches at the cowl to hold the hood in the open position. Mark's car, serial number one off from mine was in S.D. and it has them too. This car doesn't have them. I THINK these early cars had leather instead of cloth. But you are right about the dash on this one, it's '16ish because of no air pump but still has the "goggle" box {official term}. FatassBuick, what is the number stamped on the firewall? Would be stamped real lightly on the right side above where the exhaust manifold would have been? That is the sequential number of touring cars built for that year. That may help. Might be T xxxxx. If a roadster R xxxxx.
The numbers are on the firewall, on the engine side they are literally stamped into it They might be covered in rust I've had four of them in various states of disrepair over the years. Here is the numbers
That chart is for serial numbers. The numbers stamped into the firewall is for body numbers. It shows the number of roadsters or sedans or touring cars built when this body was built. That's why the T or R.
WOW @burl , those are some great looking roadsters! I've got my work cut out for me after I get my coupe running. I'm really trying to have some discipline. Would love to see a build thread.
I'm to lazy to put together a build thread plus it takes me way to long to build pretty simple recipe just used a model a chassis and hopped up banger any questions just message me
One thing I've always loved about the HAMB is how it can motivate me, and the general positivity of the members. Thanks for posting more pics! I got to a stopping point on my T coupe last night and decided to play around with my jigsaw puzzle. Not sure if I'm running a Model A rear end or 39 juice, but most likely the A. Can't wait for the weekend!
