Nice! I wonder who found that and posted it? I just stumbled across it and wondered what in the world?? About 30 seconds after that it occurred to me that that is my table and my tool box in the back ground. LOL Gotta be nuts! That is a ford T8d crashbox and its installed behind a ***mins 4bta. Behind the brownie is a NP 205 transfer case. The whole thing does work though.. Cheers!
Any idea on the ac***ulated mileage or operating hours? How far off concentric and parallel are the respective faces of the adapter? I'm building an adapter for something and I'm kind of wondering what I can get away with in terms of tolerances.
Hmmm probably 15k miles and it had reasonably tight tolerances I would say that total run out would not be over .010 between the input and output shaft. I did make sure that both faces were parallel when I built it. Top to bottom and side to side within .005 If I had the room, I would have just moved the T-case back and used a short slip yoke drive shaft between the two. As a side note, I found another ****er 5831 last week.. Got it for $400 with the yoke and a section of drive shaft on the back and the support collar and a drive flange on the front. Also got the shifter for it. Pulled the top off and its in excellent condition inside, as well.. That put a HUGE smile on my ugly mug. Cheers!
Good to hear those tolerances work successfully. I will probably try to do a little better than in both directions since obviously less is better.
Nice. I like that set up. Looks like it would save some room and leave a decent length driveshaft in it's wake. A local transmission shop owner has some experience with these so I left my 5531-A with him to go through and maybe find some speedometer gears for it.
