Just a quick FYI. I just received an email from Hemmings that my current subscription would automatically renew at the end of the current subscription period. My local newspaper started doing this years ago and it was a nightmare to cancel it. On one hand I'm disappointed that Hemmings would resort to this business practice but on the other I'm glad they notified me since I was on the fence about renewing since the Hemmings content is shrinking by the month. The automatic renew policy made the decision for me. I sent Hemmings an email and to their credit I did get a confirmation that my subscription would not automatically renew. YRMV

Thanks for the heads up. I just got the latest issue after the merging of the magazines and I may do the same.

  3. Sometimes there are discounts for automatic renewal on things, but I'm not fond of the practice either. Good on Hemmings for at least giving you the heads-up.

They still send me notifications to renew since I don’t keep a card on file and I just renewed last month I think it was. But I’m probably the only one here that reads it from cover to cover religiously :D

Auto renew isn't traditional...... Local newspaper wants to operate that way, but i refuse, since they seem to always have "special editions" that raise the monthly fee 10-20 dollars. I buy Hemmings on the newstand a few times a year, thought about their special they've got. Would really hate to see them disappear. Guess I'll sign up for that one, but not auto renew..
