    Hello,

When we were reading about the other drag race areas in California, we looked north to the S.F. Bay area as another involved drag racing area. Arizona was also close to us and a couple of hours of driving to those places.

The hub of northern California hot rod/drag race central located in what is now a spreading part of Silicon Valley. The hot spots in drag racing in California were Reath Automotive in So Cal, Vic Hubbard in Hayward, CA and Champion Speed Shop in South San Francisco on the western S.F. Bay.

The photo shows our friends, the Forsberg Brothers and their record setting modified roadster. Along with the famous orange “Bread Truck” altered. The roadster was one of many different builds that went into the Junior Fuel FED classes later on.

That custom 29 sedan delivery was the inspiration for an art project I was doing. I had been drawing several 29 Fords in all sorts of styles, from woodies to sedans with filled in read side windows, to pickups and finally to chopped coupes.

But, I finally settled on a drawing a 29 Ford Sedan Delivery that would have been the hottest thing at any beach in So Cal. It certainly would have made an impression anywhere, let alone the ones we usually surfed, Killer Dana, Secret Cove Peaks, Salt Creek and the San Clemente surf spots. YRMV
upload_2025-3-1_4-29-12.png It would also have drawn a lot of attention parked in front of our old high school, as well as representing itself at the local Cherry Avenue Drags location late at night. (Using this Paxton Supercharged SBC motor for daily driving and go fast moment...)

  20. IIRC, this 1932 Ford station wagon was owned by John B. Goode from Pennsylvania at one time. It was Chrysler hemi powered way back then. It showed up at the N.S.R.A. York, Pa. swap meet quite a few years ago.
