Doesn’t look like you can run a V8 cam because of the firing order, but I’ll bet you could have your cam reground for a nice street cam. Sounds like a Ram Air head will work.
Man o man this thing looks to be bunch of fun, love it!

That was when I got there loading it up.
I’m on my way back now. I’ve got another three hours to go to get to the shop and unload it.
Then I have to return the trailer to UHaul, Then I have to bring my truck back to the shop to switch back to my everyday normal car. Then head back home.
    600 miles round trip today.

Pretty much as he described. The paint is really a fantastic gold.
I'm going to get it spectrophotometer to get the exact color for any touch ups. I like it.
Body prep work underneath could’ve had more blocking but certainly a good 10 footer.
There is a little blip on the hood and a blip on the trunk. I might get away PDR'ing them.
It runs and drives. Will probably re-kit the carb.
Just need some detailing in the truck and the engine and a good buffing and clean up some ignition wires.
The chrome is OK, good 10 footer, one little blip. As mentioned, I had a vision and will paint the wheels the gold color,
I have a nice set of dog dish cabs, and I also have the super duty hood scoop.
I bought it because it is an odd duck without a lot of major stuff needed.
All relatively weekend putzing project which I enjoy.
My days of yanking motors, trans and rears are done.
It’ll be a fun driver and probably get a double take a look on it.

Just a vision and some fun.

It might look good with bias ply‘s.
    760 X 15 in back and 670 X 15’s in front.
I’ll have to check Coker inventory with the special going on.

That would be something under the hood eh!! I mean it's bigger half was no slouch...Tempests have a pretty unique engine history...didn't Chevrolet have it's own halfed 8'...Chevy 11, Acadian...maybe I'm having a Stogy......Hamber Nutrocker would say go for it. He really took a 4 banger for a blast it never dreamed of...

Congrats @corncobcoupe it's like stepping into 1962...a nice compliment to the Flamin' 40...definitely a nod to the GTO and Bonneville

    Thanks fellas.

The 59 Buick spinners hub caps on it will be up for sale in the classifieds soon.
While they look ok, definitely need some plain jane dog caps on it.
I like the sleeper look for those early year Pontiacs, the intermediate Tempest/Lemans and the big Bonnevilles etc.
I have to see what tires I have in my rack. Not sure yet.
May bite the bullet and spring on some period looking Coker US Royal or Firestone Bias Ply's.

On the Data Plate the bottom line with the Numbers and Letters has always been a little of a mystery per the Pontiac fellas.
01B is Build Jan /2nd week
    PO is Pontiac Michigan Plant
Trim 216 is Bronze Vinyl Interior
The Accessories 1T-2M-4B-4G-4R Thats the unknowns - Pontiac guys have some web sites of send in your data plates and they try to compile similar plates with the accessories to get a consensus of what guys say their cars have for options.
But, there is no code sheet identifier that I could find.
Paint TC means it was born Caravan Gold with an Cameo Ivory top.
Thank gosh it was repainted all Gold !

I remember that Pontiac had all the archives and you could get a copy of the build sheet, like you can with Studebaker. Since Pontiac is belly up now I wondered what happened to all that info....This came up when I searched it... Screenshot_20250227_055818_Chrome.jpg

PHS (Pontiac Historic Services) has the actual records from GM. Jim Mattison (former GM employee) and his son run this service. Copies are available (for a fee) covering the years lumpy 63 mentioned.
IIRC they only respond to emails.

Thanks, I used the PHS services - years and years ago (30-35) when I had a 74 SD Trans Am and 64 GTO Convertible.

This 63 Tempest Lemans is pretty ordinary - as you can imagine the Trophy4 is a bit - ok a lot under powered.
But it's fun to try to identify the Accessories codes.

Trip to the car wash. Really like this Gold color.
Took the 59 Buick Spinners off and they will be hitting the classifieds.
Will be taking these tires off, sanding the wheels, spraying them the Gold body color with Dog Dish Caps with some 775 -15’s. It’s coming along….

Well, funny thing when I got to the shop.
I went to start it, and the battery was done.
    I open the hood and ( I wish I took a picture ) ,
It’s an Interstate Battery / one of the Super Duper HD ones good for 6 years and the date tabs show March 2019.
I look at it closer and someone did an etch pen March 1, 2019 !
    So, a Interstate 6 year Battery,.... they aren't shitting, it’s a 6 year battery to the day - March 1, 2019 - March 1, 2025 !
It's like it had a calendar in it, 6 years to the day, Vrrrp done ! Funny huh ?

I had to go and get a brand new $150.00 3 year battery, as well as a 18.00 battery cable as the clamp was cracked, and a new 8.00 fuel filter as the current one on it looked older.

Changed the cable, put in the new 850 CCA battery, new fuel filter, and I turn the key and it Vrooom fired right up.
Oh, and I did find out the battery tray is crusty at best. No 61-63 Battery trays appear to be available so maybe have to get a 64 and modify it ( cut down a little ).

The car wash is a mile up the road, I got it up to 35/40 mph there and did the same coming back and it ran fine.
I have not gotten it out on the double lane 60-65 mph yet.
Just starting to dig into little things.

Yea it's Iowa....Blizzard one week, 70's the next week.
    https://weather.com/storms/winter/video/iowa-blizzard-whiteout-conditions
Watch the last 5 seconds of the video how dangerous it was.
A blizzard yesterday - absolutely crazy with 60MPH winds  certainly wasn't part of my vision but with daylight savings time starting this weekend and temps in the 70's next week is more like it to putz with it. :)
    Yea that's Iowa.
