I have been waiting to finally fix this drivers door. This was another patch on top of original metal all covered in Bondo, like an old roof with too many shingles.



All better.





The other side was way better, but still holey enough for a panel.



The passengers side has definitely been the easy side of this little car so far.



Alright, so that's it. The last of the structural metal work. Still some Bondo to uncover, but this is everything that makes the body solid and structurally sound.





Next up is most likely front suspension. See ya.

Just went through the thread, great metal work and skill. This poor car deserves it after the PO abused it so very badly. Following along .

Nice work on fixing all of the poor quality old repairs. Looking forward to watching the chassis improvements and also the drivetrain choice. For obvious reason I predict a Pontiac, or second bet on an older OHV V8 like Olds or Cadillac.

Good eye on the door deal. Yes, one door is '33, but it won't be when it is done. I have always liked the smokers window web in the door top.

I have been hoarding these straight spokes for a while just waiting for this little car to come along.



But, they weren't gonna go on this ugly axle.

Yea, I beam! Way better. By the way, this is the Tiawan forged axle that you might see from various vendors on the internet. This is the second one I have had and they are a very good quality forging and a very good axle overall and, if you look around, you can grab them for under 300 bucks. Not as good as Henry, but not horrible either.



This thing had an 8 inch on leaf springs when I got it and the rear end is way in the wrong spot, but fear not, it is not permanent.



Yea, a roller. Finally done with the structural metal work, so now it is all fun stuff until it gets to bodywork season.

That is an inspiring transformation. Do you have a pattern for the subrails, or do you just do one side till it looks right, and then mirror it on the other side?

Lookin real good, keep up the great workmanship. 4 1/2 chop is sweet with the A posts on a slight angle!

 

Are you doing a straight down chop again, or trying a slanted post on this one?
