I have new 347 stroker started out with a 0 compression in no 1 cylinder had mechanic come to adjust valves got it started mechanic and I forgot to put belt back on pulley engine overheated. later I had engine builder to come down and adjust valves and time engine he decided to lock out distributor he got engine running fine, later I decide to take car for test drive came back with a misfire, friend and I did a compression test 0 compression on number 2 cylinder rebuilder had adjusted valves on that side twice, with engine running we placed a paper against exhaust pipe on that side it sucked paper right inside pipe, pulled valve cover no sign of broken spring, engine builder said possible blown head gasket and in any event intake and head would have to be removed, since I have to do this any advice on procedures?
Welcome to the HAMB. Please read the rules and do an intro. A 347 is not a traditional rod or custom engine.
Roller or flat tappet cam? If the engine was brand new was the cam broken in before hand or is this the first time for running the motor?
Find a leakdown meter and leak that cylinder before going any farther. Where the air is going will give you an idea of where to start.
Yeah X2 on the new mechanic! I’m wondering too if the cam was broken in or god forbid the rings might be installed wrong What size cam are you running and did he put the right springs in? Also are there any broken valve springs, a lot of things could be causing the issues at hand. Either way I’d be tearing into the motor to see what the heck is wrong
This one is pretty simple . If your mechanic can not locate this one , maybe he should fall back to more training on mower engines .
In that case, neither is a 350 Chevy, nor a SBC 383 stroker. Nor is. 302 Ford. A221 or 260, as well as a 289 is, though, if the cutoff is 1966.
