The tubes were made by the original engine builder from two tubes. I converted the motor from alcohol to gas and changed the tubes to a shorter set available from Hillborn/Fuel Injection Engineering. It was at least 13:1 compression.

  3. I have none of this stuff anymore. After I quit racing, it was time to liquidate. However, after I started to run mech f.i., I became much better at tuning carbs. Learning what the engine needed rather than letting the carb make a general decision made adjustments simpler. :)

My old Arias unit adapted to my 4 banger. Been running it on the street for a couple years now. 12-28-22.jpg

Here is one I was involved with a few years back, still take it out once in a while.I ran a electric fuel pump to a ac 20201022_212012.jpg cumulator tank on the firewall and used the belt driven pump to draw from that tank on the firewall.Works great and has been a good set up for driving it around although not traffic friendly.

I drove my injected roadster as my only car for years with a 3-gallon Moon tank in front of the radiator with a 10-gallon tank in the back. It had a cut-down carburetor float chamber that kept the Moon tank about 2/3 full. Worked fine. A lot easier than using the dash-mounted hand pump for the six 97's using the 10-gallon tank in the back. Low on gas -- pump a lot to get started, lots of gas in tank -- constant pumping now and then. Worked fine at over-pressurizing the 97s and starting a fire.

single Hilborn injection on a Buick motor

    Hello,

We have always liked all of Tommy Ivo’s race cars. They were always finished to the umpteenth point and ran like the top performer it was. Lots of victory trophies in the FED classes and Top Eliminator trophies, too.

It was one fast FED while the competitors wished he would go to another dragstrip on alternating Saturdays… ha! But, the single injected Buick went to other So Cal drag strips as an alternating drag race day, much to the dismay of those wanting to be the Top Eliminator, elsewhere.

But, as much as we liked the single engine Buick Motor in the Kent Fuller Chassis, we always had a laugh or two. When my brother and I talked about how cool it would be to show up at Lion’s Dragstrip with that injected motor in our dad’s 57 Buick Roadmaster, it was fun to dream.

What class would it have been? The heavy weight would have put it in D/Gas even with the injected Buick motor. The Bruce Slicks tucked neatly under the rear wheel openings and the sound of the rumbling motor would have made others take notice. !!!

But, in late 1959, this showed up unexpectedly at the Lion’s Dragstrip and Riverside Raceway pits.

Saw this back up. Fixed the old post. Here it is again so you don’t have to scroll back to it IMG_0270.jpeg
20a nozzles on methanol, have a set of 7a for gasoline. They’re waiting for an engine to get finished now…
