    Are you using the original F-1 core/radiator support? I did but my Chevy engine might be shorter than yours. Is that a Ford engine?

    Hi folks. I'm resurrecting this thread. Silly me I removed the rear door hold opens about 30 years ago because they rattled and were driving me nuts (a short drive indeed). Of course they have disappeared in that time. Now I wish I had them back and I'd do whatever it takes to make them quit rattling. So this week I posted the following in the marketplace "wanted" section:

    =========================================

    "WANT TO BUY:

    The two door hold opens for the rear doors of 1948 Ford panel truck. Probably the same through 1952. These go near the top of the doors and keep the doors from swinging too far open.

    The pic below shows what I'm looking for. This isn't my panel; just a pic I found on the web. I need the pieces that are attached at the top of the door jamb and hanging downward. The other ends attach to the tops of the doors.

    =========================================

    Now I'm coming back to you all to see if any of you can help me.

    I can't add much...My cousin had a 58 Ford Panel that went to Australia a few years ago, my wife liked it, maybe I should have bought it, now she has reiterated that maybe I should find one for a project...there are not many out there.

  5. atch; looking at the F-1 brackets and remembering what was on my 53 F-100 I wouldn't be surprised if up to 56 would cross over. Speaking of mine it can be bought. Runs and moves, not quite ready for a road trip. Any interest send me a P.M.

  7. Isn’t everyone? Panel trucks are my favourite next to sedan deliveries.

    @atch I found these hanging on my shed wall. Not sure if they are correct? Got any better pics to compare them to?

    Who doesn't love a panel? It's a hot rod, its a truck, its a room. What else can match that versatility?

    I don't think I've reported on my "progress" which was actually a few steps back. I thought I was done with my dropped axle front end until I tripped over the front lowering leaf springs that I never installed. No big deal just swap them out. Now the tie rod hits the springs. I bought the front end slightly used and the guy had bent the right spindle arm and the left side steering arm. Closer inspection showed what looked like stress cracks on the spindle arm. Soooo, all that to say now I need unaltered parts to clear the springs and get back on track. I found a good steering arm on a Facebook F1 group and a friend had a right spindle locally. The last thing left to do is install the that spindle. While I'm there I'll put the hubs and disc brakes on. Then I can get back to setting the rear end pinion angle and weld the spring pads on the rear end housing. I still have to raise the body off the sand blasted and painted frame to install the body to frame mounting pads. After that, install the rear mounted gas tank, gas line and brake lines. And on and on.
