IMG_2918.jpeg Just trying to decide exactly where to place a glide seat in a brookville roadster. At present I don’t think we will use the sliders, just direct to the floor on 2x1 box packers.

There is no good reason to not make the seat adjustable.

I advise using the sliders. I've done several Glide bench seats in Brookville roadsters. The 7 inches of movement is nice to have. I set mine up so when fully to the rear the back would go a little way under the upper deck panel. I don't have pictures but I always recess the sliders up into the frame to get the seat as low as possible

IMG_2919.jpeg The seat in our 3w has sliders that we have never used. Just want to keep the seat low so we can add 3 point seat belts that comply down under. Though admittedly the this makes the steering wheel a little high.
we ***ume that the L shaped metal under the body roll is for the original wooden seat back . So does it have to stay?

Yes if we do it the way @krylon32 suggested and recess the sliders a little , we can’t get it in the wrong place. Gary has built enough 32s to know a lot of nice little tricks and he is always willing to share the knowledge. Will dump the tray ,but the seat at its present height may have a strange gap between the body and seat back with the tray gone , so may have to address that.

The Glide in my Brookville is bolted directly to the floor without sliders, and to the rear as far as possible for maximum leg room. The seat back is modified to move forward, but the top normally rests against the body with no gap. I wanted the seat back to resemble what was done in the '50s, and also have room for the tank and battery directly behind, allowing much more trunk room.

Try mocking it up with the front raised an inch or so. It makes it much more comfortable (ymmv) and rotates the back down some so it fits under the rear. Don't forget to allow for upholstery, or this can be fattened up a little on top if there's a gap to fill.

Just thought someone could have a picture of how they mounted their seat before upholstery hiding the frame.

Gary @krylon32 emailed me a bunch of pictures of cars he has built. Nice that he spent the time to dig them out and send them through. Gary’s pictures gave me fresh ideas.
