What diameter? Weirdly attractive in its ugliness.

what I find fascinating, is how far from the edge the valve stem hole is.

  5. Aprox 8 valve stem holes to the centre o_O valve stem hole is approx 1/2 inch so the distance to centre is 4 inch  from first valve stem hole.

Having worked in a hardware store that employed 14 employees in its hey days, whenever a customer came in with an odd item for repair or replacement one particular old timer clerk always countered with a rather lame joke saying the item was off an airplane, usually an argument & an occasional wager ensued ending by the clerk saying "If it isn't on an airplane, its off an airplane".

The rectangle in the center makes me think it was designed to have the bar on it?

but it looks aftermarket, kind of crappy clips to hold it to the wheel.

Reminds me of one of those MoPar covers only used on one model, one year. But factory wheel covers don't rust.

Pretty rare for a factory cap to be chrome plated steel, but not impossible. I agree about the oddness of the offset valve stem hole, that's very strange for something if it was meant to be universal fit.

If I saw that at a swap meet, I would have to have it. No idea what it's from though.

J.C. Whitney used to sell all sorts of aftermarket hubcaps/wheel covers.

I looked through my 1958 JCW catalog, nothing like it. I expect it's from the early-mid 60s?

that goofy thing in the center could have been added? I agree that it is aftermarket being chromed steel....

I was thinking the same thing. Especially since the rectangular shape on the backside is perpendicular to the oversized spinner on the front.

It's way different than the Volare cap. Flat center, and the shape of the outer part, for two specifics.

The crappy clips caused the other three matching hubcaps to fly off the rims and roll into the road ditch. This hubcap is possibly the only lone survivor.
