Anybody know anything about these? I bought them in the 90's because I thought they were cool looking and now deciding whether to use them or not. Thanks for any info. T Bob
Didnt CMC Engine in Bakersfield make those? I have one of their T-shirts They're like 3" thick. the heads, not the T-shirts
Well Bob I can try can't I...... Man those are a great lookin set of heads what do the chambers look like? and have you cc'd them??? I would sure run them.....
look very good. seems company is out of business, or bought by someone else. Zombie Hotrod Wear has their stickers.
Here is what I wound up with. I used the Big Boy heads. The generator mount will be on driver's side head. I also put risers under middle and back Strombergs. Creates a neat stagger look.
Man those look Good Bob even looks like enough room to run a blower between the heads without much problem!!!
Hi, I know this is an old thread but it came up in google when I was searching for those heads... Those were made by Paul Samarin at CMC in Bakersfield... He was a distant relative of mine and a cool guy. He passed away a few years back. He had a pair of those heads on an 50 Merc with a 3 duece Edelbrock intake in a 29 roadster that he took me for a ride in one time... Impressive car. Quite fast despite running through one of those Bakersfield sand storms... But I digress... The heads were copied from earlier heads... The "Big Boy" thing was Paul's. Paul was around 6'5" and had to be close to 300lbs. I forget where he got the tooling for them from. If I remember right, the chambers are pretty tight. They're supposed to flow well in spite of that though. -Phil
I set # 4 from Paul Sarmin with Retro tech full injection. Car ran very well, also modified the oiling system to a full flow. I had to run an oil line from the pump through the oil pan to dual filters. Then back to where the bypass and sending unit was. I drove the car to Arizona. My oldest brother lived in Mesa. He always wanted a 32 5 window and this is what he got. I brought him back to New Jersey and took care of him, after he passed, I had to sell it I couldn't have heart to keep it. I am the youngest of 6 children and he was the oldest My fondest memory of him was carrying me on his shoulders to the Brooklyn Navy Yard to go on his Ship. The USS Noris a Destroyer. As you can see In my avatar I am building a Roadster with a 440 Mopar with long tube cross ram, five speed with a Franklin Q/C rear with a winters post unit. It's a long story but the heads were worth the price we paid for them. I f you look close I polished them and installed a chrome model A chrome fan blade on the alternator. It took me my wife and daughter 10 months to build. I did all the fabrication, my wife did the interior and my daughter painted it for her required project to get her art degree.
Can we see a shot of the combustion chambers—are they horseshoe shaped or different from regular chambers. Pics tell all.—-have a friend that is engineer, has flow bench and dyno and knows how to use them. He claims there is not BEEN any head that is 3-5 hp difference from a Henry Ford cast iron. Has flowed Weiand, Sharp,Edelbrock and many others. These are at the top of his list as SLIGHTLY better h.p. But only 3-5 hp difference better than stocker.
Did he ever re brand his heads? I’ve seen a set around that look identical aside from the holes for the sending unit’s and instead of the big boy’s in the cast they say ford speed parts. I’m fairly positive they’re big boys but I’m wrong more than not.
It’s been a crazy long time but I’m pretty sure they were made before he bought the molds and renamed them. I’m fairly certain the FSPs ones were pre-Samarin..
