This is the only municipal promoted event
to my knowledge managed by a car guy.
Kevin Hammack just retired from the
City of Duncan as Assistant Fire Chief
after 35 years of service & has owned
an auto upolstery shop since 1992.

He is promoting The Duncan Automotive
Swap Meet at a first class facility that he
    has helped grow since 1996

600 to 800 inside & outside vendor spaces
were sold last year - the 19th year.

    Outside vendor spaces on asphalt
with overflow spaces on packed granite.

Kevin was at Chickasha Swapmeet last year
handing out flyers to welcome the pre-war family to this venue this year.

First day is vendor set up with public allowed.

50 + water & electric rv hookups onsite
    w/dump station onsite.

Inside vendors can sleep in spaces.

Outside vendors can dry camp in spaces.

    Free showers onsite.

Electric - gas - propane carts allowed,
    just drive responsibly.

Food available during swap meet hours
by local high school band and contract food trucks.

    Handicapped restrooms and porta potties
    for outside vendors.

I will keep this thread updated.

  2. Talked with Kevin today.
    Inside spaces are selling fast.
    Outside spaces can be added
    as needed by vendors.

    Onsite security 24/7 with
guard at the gate - you are
    encouraged to have what
    you need when you arrive
to set up - if you leave to
    get groceries or go have
a meal in town - bring proof
    you are a registered vendor
so you can get back in.

  3. I had a nice conversation this afternoon
with Model T Legend Gene French
    who lives in Colorado.
He has been sending swap meet
flyers to his customers in the states
    and all over the world.

Here is his post today on
    The MTFCA General Discussion Forum.

Hmm…I have been thinking I need to sell lots of junk. This may be my opportunity.

I have been to this a couple times in the last few years. I may go to sell because it is close. But, not sure I would travel very far to attend unless having the prewar stuff is bringing lots of new vendors.

  7. Last year there were 600 - 800 vendors
    according to Kevin.
That is roughly the same amount of vendors
that were at The Hershey Fall Swap Meet
    last year.

That sounds like about 3 or 4 times the number of vendors that were there just a few years ago. If so, that is great that it is growing like that.

  10. Friday is a Main Street Car Cruise
at the end of the day just a couple miles
    from the fairgrounds.

There is 24/7 security on site and a
guarded gate you have to enter and
exit thru - so whether you are setting
up as a vendor or shopping - head to
the car cruise at the end of the day.

Talked to a couple buddies that have been to Duncan every year that they have had it including last year to make sure I wasn’t missing something. For what I would consider a somewhat small swap meet, it is pretty decent and growing. Last time I went, I bought a car (that I later regretted but that is a whole story in itself) and a few pieces for various projects. It does sound like they have added another building this year and maybe the Decatur swap meet isn’t expected to be great which could also help. But, comparing it to Hershey is a stretch and not what someone might expect. I only say that because I wouldn’t want someone disappointed thinking it was a Turlock, Hershey or even Pate. I might argue that it is better than what has become of the Chickasha swap meet. But, that isn’t saying much these days.

Anyway, thinking I will likely go sell so appreciate the info and reminder that it is coming up.

  12. I just received a text from Kevin
that a combined 500 vendor spaces
inside and outside have been sold
    as of this morning.

You still time to plan to attend
    as a vendor or a shopper !

Thanks for the reminder. I’ll call Kevin and get some spots today. Just out of curiosity, I wondered how many venders are at Hershey. The number I found said about 9000. That explains the size comparison. Looking forward to selling lots of junk…I mean valuable treasures. :D

  15. Hershey has the potential to host
9000 vendors at the Fall Swap Meet.
    It is not HAMB friendly

In 2024 both vendors and shoppers
    were down in attendance despite
    relatively good weather.

    The aging demographic of folks
    also played a significant part.

Got two spaces inside. Now, I just need all my Oklahoma buddies to come buy stuff. Maybe I should post pics while I am loading up. :D

trulyvintage, thank you for posting this far enough ahead that we have time to plan to go. I see swap meets mentioned a day or two before but thats not enough warning. We plan to go to this one and really like the -prewar- mention. There seems to be a serious lack of prewar parts at all of the swap meets I have been to in the last 6 years. Its all Silverado tail lights and modern junk

Yea, the pre-war piece is a good deal and I am glad to see that they have taken it on from what was at Chickasha. I have about half and half pre-war vs. post-war so ended up in the main section. Maybe some of the pre-war guys will come buy me out of that stuff Thursday. :D

Well, I forgot to write down my space numbers. But, I am inside a building on concrete…I do remember that. I’m gathering up stuff today to take so may take a few pics and post here as a teaser. I just need to figure out what all to take.

  23. Over 600 spaces have been sold.
42 acre facility - so lots of room
    still available for outside vendors.

    Powered carts allowed inside buildings
and outside so bring your electric or
    fuel powered car or UTV/ATV.
