Wouldn't it be neat to find a pair of sbc heads stamped Jenkins Competition.

Tony..do you remember what numbers your heads had stamped into them? The running tally, plus the year makes more sense. I know tbe ones I sold you years ago were 1966 or 1967 heads..so the number should be lower the older they are.

The rust is California red dust...I was thinking of reverse electrolysis or something similarly mild. There is the recipe for evaporust type stuff online..might try that as well.

I'll have a look tomorrow and report what I find out. It'd be great if they were screw in studs. In thinking about it more..it would seem odd that they would port them and looks like install springs and aluminum retainers and not touch the studs.

It does have some writing on the side. Looks like Champ and 1 5/16 posi on them..

  9. Ron, the earlier set is 36767 and has pinned studs. The other pair has screw in studs with the integral nut but no guide plates those are 49668 which were a bit earlier than your "new" pair.

I'd love to see one run over a flow bench and charted out, just so the information would be available.

Well, thanks. I don't remember seeing any stamped names or #s on them. These could've been done as early as ~'55, I don't remember the casting #s either. Just an interesting set of heads.

Here are a few more pics...looks like the studs were replaced. Did they do stainless valves? Can't imagine they'd be that shiny if they weren't stainless?

I have a set of these 186 castings dated 69 from 1970. How much are they worth. Haven't been run since rebuild in 21. They're on a 9/16 stroker I'm going to sell.

What someone will pay. I scrapped 4sets (186,462,461) last year, cost more to build than they are worth, unless your doing number matching & date code build. I bought a fresh non ported/messed with pair date coded for a serious resto project $650, and delivered to Canada for $fuel fee. I would never paid that for a regular street build, but for this rare project, it was key

Dave..id guess $350 to $500. Can't tell too much about them from the pics. But screw in studs and guideplates..and being 2.02s, push the value up. They're probably worth most left on the motor..

Doug....man..ive scrapped my share of stuff. But never camel hump heads. I'd rather sell them for $100 a pair if they needed a lot if work. At least they'd remain in the gene pool. Maybe $10-$20 scrap value?

I thought they would be worth more being ported by mondello. The bad thing is my dad angle cut them .125 to increase compression

  23. How cool! A friend of mine had a cousin that was an engineer at Ford Performance in Dearborn. He brought home two sets, of heads, one GT 40 that my friend got and the other Mondello set I got for my 66'Shelby GT350. Still have the engine, the Shelby is long gone.

Dave.. you didn't say they were ported by Mondello. The angle cut hurts them though. You could probably double my estimate..but you might have to sit on them for a bit.

Angle mill is vintage tech, intake has to be milled, or made. Pretty sure bolt holes need to be opened up, and spot faced for head bolt, stud to seat properly. Verify parallel to head deck. These are gold for a guy with peripherals for a unique build.

The guy I got the heads from was nice enough to send me some original stickers that had come with the heads. I've seen them before..but what's up with the logo looking like a toilet seat? Lol.. 20250410_162308.jpg

Let’s see. A head is slang for the bathroom, heads by Mondello. Yup, toilet seat is his sense of humor showing up…

Over the years the term "head shop" has taken on a variety of definitions.

@Dave G in Gansevoort has it right. I was never in the military but I do know that the washroom on board a ship is called the head.
