Since they are made here in the PNW there are a **** ton of them running around and you are correct, they don't look right on most older rigs. Rather like buying a flannel shirt at Walmart and trying to p*** it off as a Pendleton.
I just saw a pair of 37 Desoto fronts at a swap meet yesterday. But they were already spoken for. First time I've seen any at a swap in a decade.
Me too! They're not being sold AS a DeSoto bumper, but as a repop. So..... I guess the only thing that works for a lot of you guys is genuine stuff that costs more than most of us can afford. Oh, that's right... the COOL guys (those in the know) ONLY approve of $$$$$$ flatheads and Hemi's. Get real you guys, we're not all rich and elite like you are!!!! We build what the budget allows, because we don't spend our kids' inheritance to do it!
I don't have any ripple bumpers, DeSoto, Briz or otherwise, but... I'd like to know who these 'rich and elite' people are and what exactly cons***utes 'rich and elite.' I scratch by with what I can, make what I can't afford and save for parts which I think are crucial/make-or-break. (That's parts I think are crucial, not necessarily anyone else.)
I bought the 2 rears and one front. The first set I ever saw at a swapmeet in the 40 years in going. Started when I was 10. Being rich to buy them, what do they go for as the prices you have seen.
Aluminum can be chromed, but why not start with some real steel? https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/37-desoto-bumpers.1323433/#post-15502201
