I'm in a search of a new shifter for my car has a th350 what is everyone running looking for input thanks in advance
I'm more of a four speed guy but the Hurst Auto Stick always looked the part to me. This is just a visual example. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/the-hurst-auto-stick-i-shifter-thread.1133682/
I've turned into a column shifter guy, finally got tired of fighting the floor shift lever with my right leg. I've got a Lime Works column and shifter in my daily driver deuce pickup and love it. Also put a column shift in my 40 coupe. Also putting a column shifter in a new deuce roadster I'm currently working on.
For 1 my ankle rubs up against the housing that is in it also won't come out of park come to find out the way this ones is built has plastic components that are warn out
I've been using a Genny Shifter for 26 years that works fine, although I don't know how the new ones compare quality-wise.....
Same here. As a tall guy, every bit of floor space in this old stuff helps. I find a column shifter easily functional too.
I've got a B&M ratchet shifter, which is kind of needed with the manual valve body. It's great at performing the job, but it's kind of short and in the way. I've experimented with a longer handle and that works better, but impacts being able to move around in the car. I'm considering moving it's location and fabricating a longer handle or going with a lokar style, but with the side action rather than the ****on. It probably won't do what I want (one gear at a time) so I'm still on the fence. I'd prefer the lack of a big branded lump on the floor, too. I would rather support Lokar, but they don't do a side shift. https://lokar.com/transmission-shifters-accessories This place is a Hoffman group (BAD NEWS) and it says US Designed, which means offshore stuff. https://www.americanshifter.com/catalog/shifters/gm-350-th-transmission-shifters
When I built the 27 T roadster I didn't want a floor shifter, although it would have been easier. Maybe? I used an upper 1959 (or so) Pontiac column and mated it with a 58 Studebaker "lower end" because the Pontiac shifter lever took up so much space. I used the Studebaker shift lever and neutral switch and the Pontiac turn signal switch.
Ya this is the one currently in the car wich takes up a bunch of room and the cover that was made for it to sit on
The Lokar push ****on shifters are available with several stick length choices, from 4" to 32". https://lokar.com/shop/transmission-accessories/push-****on-shifters.html
