Looking to knock out the Ford 5 on 5 1/2" lug bolts and re-drilling to 5 on 4 3/4", who makes a jig or guide? Thanks!

It won't work on that axle with the access hole, I bought it and tried it, it lines up the 4.75 patteren right in the hole.

I ended up just buying aftermarket axles with the 5x4.75 pattern, I also told them they should add that it won't work in these applications in their description.
They did agree to take it back but I had to eat the shipping costs.

Think Tuck had some posts somewhere on welding a disc in the hole, then having the flange trued on a lathe, then a slight groove marked at the new bolt circle, new stud holes laid out, and then drilled for new studs.

Maybe the holes could be drilled and threaded and gr8 tap bolts used for studs.

Saw stuff like this done way back in '60s Hot Rod article.

You could weld a disc plug in the hole. Then use the Hell Gate drill guide. Then have the axle skimmed as per this article.

If I was doing this I would make my own drill guide. First get an old hub or rotor with either the old PCD and new PCD. Re-drill or have this re-drilled to the other PCD. then take the centre out of it and use it as a drill guide like the Hellgate one possibly with the use of guides as of POST#43 in the link that '52 F-3.

I have always said to myself if he can do it I can also . My time is free to me . I just worked 3 weeks wiring up a spool gun to my 200 amp MIG . It is 24 VDC operating and welder is 12VDC operating system . The spool gun was salvaged from work trash . 2900.00 new . I could not allow it to go to trash . I now can say , I did it and it works great . Could I have bought a new one , but why I have this one in hand

It really depends on what you're doing with your car, sometimes a catalog aftermarket axle is a much better choice than a stock axle, it cost me a quarter panel

I like saving money, but unless you have a lathe and can weld in the plugs I doubt you could get even the plugs turned smooth and bolt pattern drilled for what Dutchman's charges for new axles. And you'd still have old bearings!
I could easily make and weld in plugs, but would have to buy the jig to redrill the pattern, buy new studs, have the mating surface turned, and get new bearings. Doesn't calculate as a savings to me.

I was fortunate over the years to get a lathe, a mill., welder's, plasma cutter, etc. etc. for the shop and it wasn't because I needed more garage art to look at!
