So, my father, whose 73 years old , always told me, that when he was in grade school, (mid-late 50s) that he saw cars, with stuffed animals, that had eyes that lit up with the brake lights, in the rear window. I finally found one, this winter. (had to pay pretty good for it) I wondered if anybody else had one, or had seen them.

In 1959 I had a stuffed cat that worked with the brake lights, and I think blinker lights also? I had it in the back seat package tray in my 1953 Chevy. Ordered from JC WHITNEY catalog.

Was thinking what a relief it'd be if you wired one of them up and it didn't work. You'd think, alright I can throw this ugly fucker away.

You could always get a stuffed beaver with bulbs in place of the eyes.

Wow, you dredged up a faint memory from my childhood. I remember one night when I was a small boy, probably about 1969, our family was following a car that had the cat in the back window. We were all talking about it. Funny, I hadn't thought about it since, but that little memory is wedged up in my head.

  17. I remember dogs with bobbing heads and hula girls on the dash, but not those cats. Some of you have a few years on me.

  18. Years ago I went to a shooting gallery where they had bobbing head dogs as prizes, so I cut a deal with the owner to buy some from him, no shooting required, just cash. I replaced the eyes with flashing red LED's, and provided a couple of feet of wire for connecting them to your brake lights. I sold them at cruise nights and would see them on parcel shelves for a few years after. I didn't really like the dogs (I think there were lions, tigers and cats in there too), so instead I had a huge rubber blowfly on my parcel shelf (with flashing eyes of course).

I’ll try to shove some lights and wire in this thing, but I’m thinking that I might be in for one hell of a fight…. IMG_1641.jpeg

My now wife gave me the white dog shown in the first post when we were dating. I put it in my '70 Nova. We're in our 50th year of marriage now. The dog and the Nova are long gone.

Hey, ya gotta give him credit. First, he knows he's got one. Second he's got photo proof.

How many here can claim both for all the 'treasures' in their possession??

    Hey @Moriarity
Hey Mark, do you have one of these quarter sized, original red plastic coin/tokens that fit in the Mobil red flying horse ?
    ( Pegasus)
Bought mine at the Portland swap-meet years ago for $1.00
