I took on this ole 46 Chevy for a guy that I do a bunch of carpentry work for. He’s bugged me for years to build him a hot rod and I told him that I do it for fun not as a job and I didn’t want to be tied down for years building one. Well a few months ago I found out he has his granddads old truck. I told him if he leaves it a patina truck then I would entertain the thought. So while we were at GNRS I put a down payment on a blueprint fuel injected 383/700r4 combo and got a wire harness ordered. So last week I had to go in for a knee replacement and layed up for the time being so this ole truck sits outside my picture window and I know its saying haha you sumbitch you aren’t going to be tearing me apart!
Looking forward to seeing what you do with it! Was really cool seeing the roadster pop up in photo coverage of the show in California.
Well, at least at this point, it looks like it is winning... Its still unmolested, and your going to be laid up for a while yet.
My 41 used to say the same thing, until the day I cut it all up, I promised the previous owner I wouldn't hot rod it up. Ironically ever since there's been some weird unexplainable stuff happened to that truck, like it's haunted or the previous owner is attached to it or something.
Grining to my self here, the license plate is telling you that it's "Too easy" Your results may vary greatly !
So the guy I’m building it for owns a good sized roofing company. The truck was his granddads and then went to and uncle and then his dad, his dad and uncle used the truck to haul shingles. If it were my truck I would shorten it but we will leave it as is. It will get a frame notch and 9” in the rear.
Nothing wrong keeping it like it is. I like a lowered LWB truck also. Makes them look sleek, in my opinion. What will the front suspension plan be?
i'm kinda in the same shape as you. my car is off topic by 2 years but i see it sitting in the yard everyday. i had knee replacement sept. 29 2023 and by feb. 24 they removed it and put in a block, because of a infection. the surgeon really did me bad and now i can barely can walk with a walker. new surgeon and a new chance in the next week or so. hope you do well, i was walking better then i had in years now i just want to walk.
Hello, A friend of mine from way back had double knee replacement and says he is feeling like 30 again. But, he has to continue with rehab and does tons of knee/leg exercises to keep the motion feeling good. He was a happy guy as he continued to heal. We were both rehabbing injured knees. His was worse and got a full replacement. He and I agreed that climbing stairs is difficult, but a good part of the recovery of any knee injury. I just keep wobbling onward… ha! I hate surgeries and lucky me, the orthopedic surgeon says my knee will take its time healing and not require surgery. Yes! It is healing and taking its own path, as usual, to heal and allow me to walk without shuffling or hobbling. But, coming down the stairs is a hand rail holding process… Woe is me… Nice truck project looking at you for help. It looks to be in fairly good shape and there is a place out West that is a trove of information, plus parts for Chevy trucks. There was a ton of great information about those panel trucks. The shop owner gave me some great facts about the builds and styling, about his squadron of chevy trucks the shop built for ownership and customers.
