Hot Rods How about some love for the T-Bucket?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by HOTRODPRIMER, May 9, 2021.

  1. Guess you missed the smiley face. The definition depends on who you ask. Norm G. and others say it has to have a shortened bed while some agree with you. Read this:

Aussie car owned by "Duke" McMaster and was probably the first T-bucket to hit the road in Australia. Pic possibly taken at the Fishermans Bend drags in Melbourne in the early 60's. Duke used to turn up at the Ford farm in South Muckleford occasionally to see what progress Eddie and I had made on our rods.

Ya know I have liked every T bucket, T roadster or whatever y'all argue about on this thread what they are called, but sorry @Snicklefritz65 I just can't put a like on that one above. One had to turn up somewhere though. Carry on, cheers

Y'know, that one could be saved quite easily. Some good bones there. Fix the frame and it could be nice.

That is a photographic example of More’s Law. If some is good, more is better, and too much is just right!

    it looks very familiar.
there was a car locally that had very similar components and build style.
that may be an early picture of it.
I actually had the pleasure of driving it.
    quite the experience

maybe somebody here in the Northwest knows of it,
it was owned by fellow hotrodder by the name of Rich when I saw it ten or fifteen years ago.
had a baby hemi, no blower, all the brightwork was copper plate and had a wild psychedelic paint job..

@Paul There has been one posted with the extreme rake, brass and wild paint. I won't repost.
EDIT, You added pics while I was posting. I had not seen those before. Um, thanks.

A couple that fit the rake better are Uncertain T and that Red Fox tow rig that was at GNRS this year.
They both have tops, which may be part of it, but I think the execution is just much better. This one was built with a blown hemi, zoomies, QC, bitchin wheels and something strange going on with the cooling.

It is not my style, but then neither are some other examples for various things.

I'm convinced it's the same car as the one I posted,
too many things are the same not to be

the more I look at it the more I like it
I hope it survives just as it is
it's a real piece of local history
    space needle and all

Front frame kick-up, drilled axle and rods, front wheels, angle of body and steering, distance of rear behind body, QC rear, the body lines at the rear curve (front of touring) and the straight line rear body line aligned to the touring line.
EDIT: narrow cowl and front frame and where the cowl meets up with the valve covers.
I agree, it sure has a lot of features that match up.
I wouldn't want to be the caretaker for it, but I hope that it survives too. History is important.

  30. Don Audel's T had a pretty radical rake but was done in much better taste than the the T featured above.
