Switching my c1 from 6v to 12v. I know I'm going to get the WHY from the purist, not my first go around with this. This is my first conversion , pretty straight forward. Everythings changed to 12v. . Now the problem lies when I try to start it , it kicks once then I have to wait and it will only kick once , in otherworldly it won't spin.
I put battery to starter and it kicks as should.
6v starter , 12 v Battery neg ground , original starter key switch and original floor stomp starter. Should I be using a starter solenoid ?
There is an obvious power drop between switches and direct battery to starter.
I'm open to thoughts , suggestion.

When you put the battery to the starter, are you just byp***ing the starter ****on?

If that's the case, it seems that you've found there the problem most likely is. The switch or it's wiring.

For switch wiring I'm using no less then 14 guage. By switch do you mean key switch , key switch shows 12v transfer in and out. Its a two post switch. Foot start shows the same but may not stay open. I'm using 10 guage from key to floor and 4 g from floor to starter. Starter is a 1 post starter no solenoid.

That won't work! you need a big (#4) cable from the battery to the stomp switch.

Current to the starter should NOT go through the key switch!

Normally the foot starter switch like that, connects the battery to the starter. This is using big fat wires, because the starter draws hundreds of amps current.

The key switch turns on power to the ignition coil, so the engine can run. I might also power the gauges and heater, etc.
