Needs bigger rear tires, like the 15oz coupe. I love it.

  6. IMG_1317.jpeg Made some progress, I got the Olds rear end housing from the Hugh Tucker roadster narrowed a couple of inches on each side. I wanted to keep the ladder bar brackets in place, old arc welds as they were. I added some lower coil over shock mounting plates with multiple height adjustment holes.

  7. Mocked up the housing in the car and made a cardboard pattern for ladder bars . I had some rod ends left over from other projects and some heavy wall one inch tubing on hand someone had given me a while ago, I cut the pieces I needed and had my machinist neighbor Jerry thread the ends and bend the top bars to match the shape I needed. Some fitting and welding and ladder bars are done. IMG_1323.jpeg IMG_1326.jpeg IMG_1327.jpeg IMG_1333.jpeg

  8. Added a top crossmember for the coil overs ,front ladder bar mounts, panhard bar etc and the rear suspension is pretty much done. Just your basic drag race ladder bar/coil over setup. IMG_1354.jpeg IMG_1356.jpeg IMG_1359.jpeg IMG_1362.jpeg

  9. This picture shows some of the inner structure to tie everything together and support the floor etc. Just a start, needs more work for driveshaft clearance etc. IMG_1357.jpeg

I don't know how I missed this build but I am so glad I found it. What a great collection of cool parts and the workmanship is amazing. Keep up the good work and thank you for taking us along.

  17. I cleaned up the housing etc, did a little welding on the frame and sprayed some primer. IMG_1425.jpeg

  18. I mocked up a gas tank I have laying around and it looks like it will work, also some wheelie bars to see if I like them.

  19. Nice progress.
The wheelie bars looks like they could be a trip hazard, just something we older folks think about a lot.

  20. I am not sure what the gas tank came out of, I got it from a friend who wasn’t using it. Pretty much a perfect fit. I will need most of the trunk space for a radiator. The wheelie bars were a $25 swap meet purchase at Bakersfield CHRR.

  21. Phil…I am not going to have a trailer hitch so I need something for people to smash their shins on.

I nailed some wood together to get the seats where they need to be. Now I can sit in there and figure out
Steering and pedal locations. The seats came out of this old Camaro drag car that was sitting in Turners auto wrecking in Fresno several years ago. IMG_1422.jpeg IMG_1423.jpeg IMG_1424.jpeg

    That Camaro rules!

  24. With the rear end in place I could measure for a drive shaft. I sure don’t need one yet but having it in place will help figure shape or tunnel, crossmember, safety loop, floor shape etc.
With measurement in hand I went to my pile of used drive shafts that I have been saving for years, finally, a reason for my pack rat madness! I found one just what I needed only a few inches too long. I cut it to length, squared up the end, separated the other part at the weld and cleaned it up on my funky little lathe, pressed it in to the tube, phased the ends and welded it together. Another piece to the puzzle! Later in the build I will get it balanced and new U joints.

  26. For front shocks I decided to use these Armstrong lever shocks. I am not sure the exact application but they are off an early English car . They need to be rebuilt. I made a couple of brackets to mount them to the frame and a couple more to go on the shackles. I will eventually rebuild the front spring with correct length leafs or maybe I will find a chrome one.

  27. Still figuring out seating location so I can set up steering column etc so I made a new aluminum plate to mount the shifter a little lower on the transmission. I also welded a block to the bottom of the shifter lever to move it toward the center of the car and heated and bent it a little to get it in a very comfortable position. IMG_1519.jpeg
